I guess your map stops on the Sussex border?!

You need to get out more!!
The only other places I go to (usually for work) are nicer than these places. Since all my family and friends live within Sussex no I probably don't 'get out enough'. Never been north of Manchester, sorry to say.

Oh Yes, although you should also add Runcorns toxic neighbour just to the North of the Mersey.

I give you Widnes.

Although you probably wouldn't appreciate the present.....

And a shout for Ellesmere Port, just down the M56 and right up there for chemically tinged godawfullness, you have to been downwind of Stanlow Refinery to appreciate its unique 'bouquet'.

I'm so nostalgic for my old stomping ground.

Mine too. I played cricket all across Merseyside, East Lancs and the Wirral, and familiar with all of your nominations. Ellesmere Port is a good one. We used to play each year at Port Sunlight, and as you say, the smell is utterly revolting. Literally to the point that you'd feel physically sick, standing out for three hours fielding. They were clearly immune to it, and pretty much never lost at home.

(I'd still rather live there than Whitburn, though!)

I had the pleasure of working in Widnes (in a Chemical Works, what else?) for nearly 3 years in the early 1990's. I never got used to the smell of the place (and I am talking the whole town, not just the Industrial bits) but you are right the locals never gave it a mention.

My finest memory of Widnes is that there was a Rendering Plant on my way to work and one morning a large (and obviously long deceased) Pig had managed to fall off a Lorry on a nearby Roundabout and then BURST.

Marvellous Scenes obviously ensued....

I raise you Bromborough just up the road from The Port.Yet go the other way a couple of miles towards Chester you have Little Sutton which is ok complete with the cracking Seahorse Pub.

Crow borough is in a beautiful area but so bloody dull and boring !
Full of Estate Agents, Hairdressers, Charity Shops and Old People's Homes.
Just how our poor excuse for a Town Council likes it.

But, in its way, wonderful. Like nowhere else in Britain.

You get a whole lot of house (and 28 acres) for a guide price of £595k. Probably get it for £550k

An historic Elizabethan Manor House listed Grade II* with annexe occupying a peaceful location within the National Park, surrounded by its own land and with views of the rolling countryside.

Newhaven on list again, its not really that bad. good points are
we have some nice countryside nearby, the sea, riverside walks, the Hope pub (sells Harveys), very short train ride to falmer and Lewes(more good pubs selling Harveys!) and its not full of Londoners!
