Top 5 Best Villages and Towns in the UK

Five is a hell of a limitation.

I guess I'm not allowed to add:-

Llangynog / Pennant Melangell, Powys
Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh
Hexham, Northumberland
Broadstairs, Kent
Thaxted, Essex

Or Telscombe Village, where I once lived.

If Telscombe Village had a tiny, front room style pub with one pump it wouId be a perfect English village. Although it's beauty is that no one ever goes there I suppose and a pub would change that!

My Great Uncle supposedly once walked down the (long since collapsed) tunnel that runs from under the churchyard to the sea.

Do you mean Bray in Berkshire? A village of 4,600 with a total of 7 Michelin stars.

Excluding the obvious brighton...

Ilkley (where I lived from 5yrs)
Harrogate - top posh totty, lovely parks, restaurant and bars etc
Whitby - nice views and cracking fish an chips!
Woolacombe (and surrounding) - has a brilliant 'learn to surf' stag do there...
Sheffield - not a town I know, but had 4 great years there at uni, great for mountain biking in Peaks too...

plenty of nice villages where you live somerset, very nice part of the country.

Indeed, dozens, I haven't included them because they are busy enough in the summer months....I cycled to Axbridge only this last Sunday....near Cheddar......its a real old school village square place, several great pubs.....

Clearly never been

I have. A number of times. Any village with a busy "A" road running through it cannot, in my opinion, qualify as "best". Noise, pollution, danger of kids running into the road.

That's the beauty of a village like Horsted Keynes. On the back roads and therefore limited through traffic, plus a village green, two pubs and a shop.
