The Observer one released on Sunday will be more interesting.

How about, in no particular order

- The Fleet Foxes - The Fleet Foxes

To be fair, that's in there - somewhere around no.19...

But Gogol Bordello is a definite oversight.

Along with Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven

...which would tie for no.1 in my books with Mercury Rev's All is Dream (also missing).

I think that there is a link on the original Times page to the top World Music, which may explain why it's not included in this heap of quite a lot of shite

Edit, yes it's here and they could only be arsed to do the Top 10. Any of your favourites in there, I'm doubting there will be :lolol:

The ten best world music albums of the Noughties - Times Online

It's not a bad list actually - does have a few of my favourites. Although I knew they'd have a Buena Vista Social Club album - middle-of-the-road choice.

But my original point was that this split between Music/World Music seems really old-fashioned to me - that's what happened in the 80s, I thought we'd moved on from that.

Watchin the boats go by
The link says best POP albums of the naughties which would explain why Britney was there but certainly does not explain why Radiohead and especially the White Stripes are there? VERY strange list imo

I am not going to take any list of noughties music seriously when it doesn't contain the marvellous, and so far unique, cricketing concept album that is The Duckworth Lewis Method......

Kid a is a great album but nowhere near number one in my mind. Kings Of Leon should have at least two of their albums in the top 10, In your Honour by the foo fighters should be high up in there, Agree regarding The streets first one as well. Another I can think of is Elbow -Seldom seen kid

I remember buying Kid A the day it came out, as I had tickets to see Radiohead that day debut it in...................Warrington. I played it the first time, it sounded woeful, played it again, it sounded worse, went to the gig, and Thom was in oodling mode. Came away totally deflated, vowed never to listen to it again, but stuck it into iTunes earlier this year and realising that it is incredible.

Yep. Idioteque and Optimistic in particular are amazing, but the best album in a decade?
