Holsgrove. First name might have been Paul.
So the answer is something like:
Ulloa (7-10m)
Bridcutt (2.5m?)
Virgo (1.5M)
Zamora (1.5M)
Noone (1.5M?)
CKR (1.5M?)
Barry (??)
Hall (??)
Lawrenson (lots when you consider the decade of sale)
Barnes (359-750K)
These transfers need to be indexed linked.Indeed. But unlikely to make our top ten now.
Bennett was about £1.5 million too. I thought Noone was a bit lower, about £1 million. Was CKR that much. I think it was about £500K and then a significant sell on when Sheffield United sold him on but not that much.
I think it was £ 600k and at the time it helped save the club

The list should be inflation adjusted
Waste of time putting in flat amounts
Lawro @ 900k in '81 was about the highest ever defender transfer in World at the time so should be top.
Ritchie @ 400k at that time would be after Ulloa in 3rd
Zamora's fee was pathetic, not helped by the fact that at the time we sold him,tv monies had dropped,a squeeze of sorts was upon football at that moment,if my memory serves me correctly
According to http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1633409/Historic-inflation-calculator-value-money-changed-1900.html (no idea how accurate it is) £900k from 1981 is about £3m now. So Lawrenson would still only be just above Bridcutt. I found it interesting that the £1.5m for Zamora would already be £2m in todays terms.
Interesting link that
Whatever happened to Bergkamp?
Virgo £1.5M
