Me and a couple of mates were talking about the lack of atmosphere created by our support yesterday and have put it down to there being to many season ticket holders there yesterday. This is probably the first game for a while where the 75% of tickets to season ticket holders has come into force meaning the normal noisey away support is being subdued by lathargy of your average season ticket holder at Withdean.
I also attended the Brighton v Millwall game, my first home game of the season and quite frankly it was embarrising...even worse then when I attended gsome games last season, I didn't realise it was possible for 6000 supporters to be that quiet.............not even any stamping on the floor anymore..........what happened to us ????????.............the noise created by abut 50 Millwall supporters shows what can be done at Withdean..............and before I get shot down in flames for not being a season ticket holder...........this is just an observation !!!

Huh...well, this season ticket holder couldn't get ticket for Southampton and I make some noise.

Why do you think STHs are quiet?

I personally prefer to watch the game without the continual drawl of a drunken GOSBTS or we hate Palace. Yesterday 'stand up if you hate Palace' how ridiculous. I would have accepted anti Southampton songs but they dont give two f..ks about Palalce and nor do I they are just another team in the division who we should try to beat and hopefully as happened this year do beat.

I think the lack of atmosphere probably had more to do with the quality of football in display...

I thought the 'stand up if you hate palace' was only to get everyone on their feet just after the stewards had sat everyone down

And people complain about the stewards being officious doing their job by telling everybody for their own confort and safety to sit down.

I do not want to piss some people off but there were 2 blokes sat behind me on the park-&-ride who were trying to remember the last away game they went to. It turned out it was Reading, LAST SEASON.

Also I overheard someone else in the que to get on the bus after the game said that this was his first away game of the season.

Albion & England forever.

What's wrong with that? Southampton was my first away of the season and I will probably only do 3 or 4 more. As someone with a young family I can only get to a few away games each season because of the cost in both time and money so I pick and chose the ones I want to do. Does this mean I have no right to go to games like Southampton? Would you rather it was just the 500 diehards who did Cardiff away on a Tuesday night?

The number of games you go to or whether or not you own a season ticket has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on how noisy you are, surely?

What's the matter with everyone today? Loads of crap threads having a go at each other, the players and the management.

Happy New Year everyone. :nono:

Yep. Me too.

I used to have a season ticket and do several away games a year. I now have a family and so I have to cherry pick my games. These tend to be the easy ones to get to. So far I've done Palace and Southampton. My next away game will be Millwall.

Is this ok with everyone?

And exactly what is the point of this observation then?

Sully accurately points out that "The number of games you go to or whether or not you own a season ticket has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on how noisy you are, surely?"

Ergo your observation is just that old bollox about what a great fan you cos you've not missed an away game for 10 years etc etc And of course this as always conveniently ignores the fact that the money you spend does not prop up the club unlike that paid up front by season ticket holders. And of course dismisses the fact that some people have families & kids and finance to consider.

I am a grandfather about to qualify for my OAP season ticket in the northstand at Withdean. I have been supporting BHA since 1945 but I fail to see why that should affect the manner in which I prefer to watch the games.

the team gave a really good account of themselves and we have also got what could turn out to feel like a new signing in Lynchie, i think that is worth a good rendition of seagulls !!!, if you don't sing you may as well cry after these last few games...

I would much rather have our level of away support at present than what it was 15-20 years ago, going to Sunderland with less than 50 fans, Man City with about 200 and Charlton on New Years Day with only a couple of hundred was frankly embarrasing.
