Saw him in the famous replay at the Bridge when they beat us 4-0 after that Goldstone 1-1 draw in the cup.

Saw a TV interview with him a couple of years back. Came across as a genuinely modest and nice guy.
And his son Mark had a great career, a fantastic classic no9.

I remember the famous photo of him jumping for a header in front of the north stand. Looked like he was 6 feet off the ground. A great old fashioned centre forward with a great spring and powerful header. RIP

I remember seeing him play against us at The Goldstone in early seventies, for Notts County. A real old fashioned centre forward indeed.

They do not make them like that any more...R I P ...

I seem to remember he was won of those footballers who moved clubs a lot. He was always getting transferred, far more than other players did. Not because he was poor, he wasn't, he was a good player, just wanted by a lot of clubs.

And back in them there days, as long as you didn't ask for a transfer you got 15% of the transfer fee, so he must have made a fortune. Nothing like today's footballers money of course, but a lot of money for those days.

I was there too. I think the amazing thing about his goal was that it wasn't a header. He was famously clumsy with his feet.
