Just realised Semi Final day, 23rd April, is the 10th anniversary of ‘Paddy’s’ sad passing at the age of 56.

For younger NSCers he led us out at Wembley in May 1983 due to Steve Foster’s suspension.

Hoping someone at the club, Edward David perhaps or the FA has also clocked this and he will get some kind of mention on the day of the game?

I wish his memory no I’ll will But he was an inferior replacement for Brian Horton who I regard as the greatest Albion player in my time as an Albion supporter

I didn't know he had died! I was a big fan of Horton and Grealish and not sure I would put one ahead of the other as players but Horton arguably had the biggest influence in what was the greatest ever team at that point in our history, so fair shout.
To be fair, making comparisons between players in different periods of Albion history ( lets say Horton v Lawrenson v Zamora v Vicente V Caicedo for example) is great for a discussion but its impossible to say which was/is the greatest I think. Perhaps 'favourite' is more to the point - Graham Mosely and Steve Penney are two of my all time favourite players in my time as an an Albion Supporter but cant see them making a shortlist of 'greatest'!

Absolutely a brilliant all round footballer and leader unmatched by any player since. Not my favourite Albion player of all time. That award goes to Peter O’Sullivan.

I’m not sure there is a precedent, then again you probably don’t get many teams playing in an FA Cup semi final on the 10th anniversary of the death of the only man to lead them out in an F A Cup final.

It would be a nice touch to have his picture up on the screen on 56 minutes ( he died at 56), Billy Greening has contacted the club, by chance I’m out with Jack Pearce Vice Chairman of the FA at a St George’s Day lunch so I will mention it as well.

If it doesn’t fit in with the way the FA do things fair enough, but there’s no harm in asking is there?

Open to question, inferior?, became an integral part in a team that then finished the highest it ever had, 13th in 81/82, and got to the FA Cup final the year after that.

But that’s why we all love the Albion

FWIW we are now in an era where Mark Lawrenson, IMHO the greatest player to pull on an Albion shirt, might be now challenged for that accolade.

May have been Tony Millard or Ron Pavey, not sure, but I was at the Goldstone to talk through joining some supporters club membership (forget exactly what it was) on the day Case was transferred to Saints. I was told that it was ideal for Albion that he had been offloaded…as his legs had gone

Yes. He was very much a target of the boo-boys if I remember.
