Minutes applause in the fourth minute at Leeds on Saturday then? Not easy to pick a shirt number from the days before squad numbers.

Surely better to have 25000 applauding against Wolves than 2000 at Leeds. Though no reason why it cant be done at both.
As TLO mentions, the Wolves fans may not be so respectful.

Sad news - only 30 years from playing in one of the pinnacles of English football to the end of a life.
TG took his place in the list of the noble "Number 4's" (or that position) of those days: Horton, Grealish, Wilson, Curbishley.

Sad news. Saw him many times at the Goldstone and he always gave 100% for the striped shirt. RIP Tony

From the looks of things online he wore number eight in the first cup final, but four in the replay and more often for league games.

A minute of clapping at Elland Road in the fourth minute?

Staggered by the news, saw him score for the Republic or Ireland too in the first international match I ever watched.

RIP TG

This , there will be a large exile contingent at Elland Road who won't be able to be at the Wolves game.

A real tough player always gave a 100% will always have his moment in the history of BHA, didn't he wear a headband for the final in sympathy to Steve Foster's ban. Condolenses to all his family and loved ones.

I hope we get a return to the minute's *silence* now. It's a moment for remembering - so much more meaningful when 25,000 people stand quietly.

As TLO mentions, the Wolves fans may not be so respectful.

Do you think so? If I was at Selhurst and there was a minute's silence for a former Palace player, it really wouldn't be difficult to be respectful for one minute. Pretty sad society we've become if it's not possible any more.

The only time I've ever noticed a minute's silence broken at football by anyone other than an isolated idiot is when people bowl into the ground, not realising it's in progress.

Anyway, probably a discussion for a separate thread but hope there's warm applause too for him during the game (and at Wembley, if we can make it, which would be very appropriate).
