Has anyone seen Solly around? Still got the boot on?

Big takeaway is, don't expect much business in January.
In addition to saying we hope to have the injured players back by mid-Feb (except Solly) and that we have a good squad,
Tony also said, “Always on the lookout, we may well do some recruitment in January.”

I haven’t watched but presumably the gist is don’t expect us to spend any money?

Strange for someone to comment on a short interview they haven’t watched - that isn’t what TB said at all. He said if they see anyone that is a good fit then they would do business (as we have done in previous years) but otherwise it is a ‘normal January window’ and there is no change to the plan for longterm sustainability of the club. He also touched on the fact we do not have the same resources as other clubs at the top of the League - the gist of that is not bloating out the squad with players we can’t afford when it is just to cover injuries that will be back by mid-Feb.

To be honest, if all except March are back by mid February, I’d be quite happy just bringing in Barco if we can get that one over the line. We’ve got a strong squad already.

My biggest issue in the summer was the lack of right back signing but Hinshelwood’s emergence has negated that issue. We can see out this season with him at right back and then maybe look at that position again in the summer with Hinsh hopefully then ready to start in midfield.

So, to use a lot less words... the gist is that we won't be spending any money in January? ???

I get your point, I mean he has only spent best part of £500,000,000 on the club.

Do you? Because it looks from here that you've inferred a completely different meaning from the post than the actual contents of it?

Good points, left back was the only place we failed to secure cover in the summer and Barco was clearly our number one choice then.

We’ve been very unlucky at RB in that both Lamptey and Veltman have had long term injuries but you can’t have 3 first team quality RBs in your squad of 25 and as you say Hinshelwood has been a more than competent third choice.

I don’t want us to spend for sake of spending but in my view we need to improve the quality. Dahoud and Baleba (yet) aren’t at the level we need and too many others are injury prone and realistically need replaced longer term anyway (Lamptey, Webster, Lallana).

RDZ publicly says we need 3 or 4 players while Bloom is saying we won’t do a lot of business, my biggest concern is that doesn’t sound very aligned.

To save everyone's time, he basically said that the transfer window could be season-defining.
