I don't how I have managed without this knowledge until now (o.k., I don't get out as much as I should) but I found this out today and I am thrilled to pose this question to you.

What is a TUNDISH?

No cheation by Googleing it, approbation for the the correct answer also for oulandish guesses. If ever I set a quiz this is definitely going to be one one of the questions!

As a tun is used in brewing, I believe (without the aid of google) that it is some form of barrel...perhaps a tundish is a small plate placed under the tap to catch any errant drips!

Definitely the closest but I liked the sheer daftness of some of the others.

It seems to have various liquid associated definitions. According to an expert at our local Plumbase it is the name for the clear plastic thingummy (with a little rotating bit within) that may be be found in an overflow pipe, the sort that drains back into the waste under the floorboards. It lets you see if the thing is overflowing. The one on our cistern was leaking a bit and I wanted a new one.
