I always go for Lamb Shish kebab as opposed to Lamb Doner. The meat hasn't been processed as much and is less likely to have been rolled along in dog piss contaminated yards as a previous poster pointed out had occured with Doners, their cylindrical shape lending themselves much better to such mistreatment.
Lamb Shish with Chilli and Garlic sauces and loads of salad, and not forgetting at least three of those little green chilli peppers.

Is the correct answer.

The word kebab makes people think of a Doner, which aren't very good in this country.

Lamb shish, lots of salad chuck the pitta if you're being healthy. Grilled meat and salad - it doesn't get any healthier than that!

I like to make a homemade one, but use a pre-made salad mix with it.

Beelzebab - one of the stalls at the Street Diner in brighton - has a vegetarian doner kebab that is supposed to be amazing. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Can confirm that their vegan doners are very, very good. Obviously not fatty, but the meat substitute (seitan or something I think?) is lovely and the pittas they use are much better than your average kebab shop pitta. Their vegan hot dogs are excellent too. Would point out that I do eat meat myself, so not saying this as someone with no option.

grilled meat, whats unhealthy about that. when talking kebabs one needs to seperate the good (shish) from the bad (doner and sheesh).

Don't be mean about doner. A big spit crammed with flattened lamb breast (shwarma when Persian) is a magnificent thing.
The elephants leg doner also has it's place. Much like the humble sausage -comprised of ground meat, seasonings and filler (rusk, breadcrumb, something worrying) - they range from proper quality to disturbing dreck.

It is a toss up between Doner Kebabs in kebab shops and KFC as to which is the worst for giving salmonella poisoning, both are near top of the lists..

What lists? Are KFC and kebabs responsible for unacceptably high salmonella rates? This has passed me by.

Ive never had a kebab (shawarma) like I had regularly in Riyadh., I thought they were epic. They had mint leaves as well, which ive never seen in Europe. Delicious.

A hypothetical list drawn up by medical people. When granddaughter was under Royal Marsden they were the two fast food outlets that she was told was a no no due to the fact of continual reheating and the health problems that brought. She was told the only fast food she could have was McDonalds because they will cook it for you while you wait. I am prepared to accept that they know what they are talking about as regards health risks.

Out of curiosity do either of those appear as franchise places in hospitals, I dont know just asking.

Lamb kebab. You can't beat the taste of bits of chicken, horse and beef so highly salted that your pissed up punter doesn't notice that more often than not there is no, or very little, lamb involved.

Still, it's quite environmentally friendly as it uses up the bits of meat that people would usually avoid.

so speculative nonsense, ignoring that fired chicken in particular is pressure cooked at well over 100deg, killing off any salmonella.

i usually have a lamb doner and salad from AA Charcoal Grill in Lewes Road

We use them as well. Pretty decent kebabs and one of the best online ordering websites I've seen.

Usual is a lamb kofte, garlic mayo sauce, chilli, cucumber and onion salad.

I love a decent kebab, but they don't do them in pitta breads here.
They are all wrapped and are cylindrical shape, not a pitta to be found in a kebab shop anywhere.
They are ok, especially when you order extra meat ,but not a patch on the monsters I used to buy back in blighty.

Here in Sweden they specialise in a wondrous dish called the Kebab Pizza!

They are incredible.

AA Charcoal grill is the one, but never delivered. Has to be fresh. Other than that you can't be the shawarma from Kambis.

So you're saying of the thousands of kebab shops in the UK there are 5 bad ones? Seems like pretty good odds to me.

Been eating doner in Turkey before Germany was created. Best kebab is an Eskander. Doner meat covered in melted butter, reduced tomato and yogurt with squares of bread caramelised in the butter.

Cholesterol City. Then again, I guess one doesn't eat a kebab to lose weight. More health conscious alternatives are available.
