Tommy Smith was an old school centre back, hard as f'cking nails. Loved watching him. He ended up in a wheelchair because his knees packed up. Smith, Charlton, Hunter, Harris... proper defenders.

Every team had a couple of nutters during his day, or they got swept aside.

Mentioned with admiration in Jimmy Case's autobiography, along with good stuff about the Albion.
