The Brazilian 4X100m relay team had BRA written across their chests.

Made me laugh.

6 figure fee, long term contract. Best of luck to him, he was a pretty solid part of a difficult team and time but I think we have done the right thing. Pretty sure he can get back to being a Championship player though

I've nothing against Elphick, but for me he is the weakest of our current centre halves, and frankly if we can get a six figure fee for a guy who hasn't played a competitive game since April 2011, well we should be biting their hands off.

It sounds like an excellent deal for the Albion. Assuming its Bournemouth-could be Pompey I suppose but I'd hope they won't be paying fees for players- that's a big risk by them considering his injury.

Elphick is a trier, he seems like a lovely, genuine bloke, and I'm glad he's got fit, but the idea of him playing Championship football worried me. Take the money & run, Albion.

Definitely one of our best defenders, and possibly the best in the air too. But he always struggled with Poyet's passing philosophy as that was the weakest part of his game. Should do very well in L1 and Bournemouth are a great club. Really wish him all the best

Good deal for the club if the talk of 6 figure fee is correct. We have cover in that area. On the other side the first bit of the OP information correct, so hopefully a player in as well today.

Decent move all round realistically but gutted to see him go. Poyet never really seemed to rate him too highly, would have been our 4th centre back and will do very well in league one with bournemouth. Poyet obviously feels 3 CB's are ebough knowing that he has got Calde and Vincelot who are more than capable to cover. Realistically its a pretty good move. Good luck tommy!

P.s i noticed Grant Hall still hasn't signed for spurs....anyone know more?

Not really sure thats the case. He did play a few times under Gus before his injury (especially before Greer signed). It was only after Greer and El-Abd built up such a strong partnership that Elphick got left out but he still managed 30 starts in all competitions in the Champ winning 2010/11 season. Its only really been since his injury and now Dunk's emergence that he's lost out.

Calde's played there before now, and I think even Vincelot may have turned his hand to it at some stage. Maybe we're making space for another multi-position player?

.

With 7 subs now, I was wondering whether the utility player role will now become less important, forcing Vincelot to specialise in one role to even make the bench. Against Reading, he seemed prepared to have a go at being a forward

Put it this way, of the two Albion centre halves Bournemouth have picked up off us, Steve Cook is by far the better prospect (and is a better footballer in the distribution sense).

He never really credited him like he did the others. Saying GG is the best in the league and having him as captain, saying dunky is a huge prospect and will play in the prem, describing El-Abd as his best defender
