That can happen if you feed with too much nitrogen, however, if you cut them back and over wintered them and fed them with a more specialist flower/fruit feed you should get fruit. It's Potassium and a bit of Potash that you need to feed them with. But don't give up.

chilli focus is a specialist chilli feed. Tomato feed does as well apparently.

I think that cutting a chilli plant in to a Bonsai is just downright cruel, plus you are going to reduce your crop considerably.

Where do you all get your chilli seeds from? In the past I have used EBay and chilli store for seeds but find they are often hit and miss with how they germinate.

I'm off to Seedy Sunday at the Corn Exchange this morning. I won't be hunting chilli seeds though, I do have 4 types on the go each year and that is enough. I do fancy trying some Beef Tomatoes if they have a nice old variety.

How are everyones greenhouses/ poly tunnels looking after the recent weather? We lost our cheap plastic greenhouse to the wind last night. At the end of last year I acquired a proper greenhouse, I am glad I didn't erect it before now otherwise I'm sure I would have been picking parts of it from the neighbours houses for the rest of the year.

Unfortunately, the greenhouse which I had up and used to grow Chilli's was torn apart. It was a plastic one and I had fixed it all down and had a little heater inside. To come home and it was destroyed. Such a shame. But will have to buy another one as I still live at home. But hopefully the weather improves and can grow some vegans Chilli's

My 10 x 8 greenhouse at home stood up fine to the storms. All my seed trays have been filled and watered so tomorrow, i'll be sowing 7 varieties of tomato, 7 varieties of chilli and 3 varieties of sweet peppers.

Have held back from planting anything yet as I'm afraid of a cold snap. Have managed to overwinter 2 reasonable sized and 3 small Bird's eye Chilli plants plus about 6 Jalopeno plants. Will hang back a couple of weeks before planting my other varieties.

I've got a load of different varieties germinated now . Some are a couple of weeks old now... Nearly ready for transferring to next pots.
I have them under a flouro light to supplement the week daylight.

You could try winter lettuce, radish, peas, dwarf runner beans, carrots or if you are quick try garlic.

Yes a bit early, but I'll be starting off my chillies soon.

I've got a raised bed in an area that gets full sun but not for the full day. It's at the side of the house.

Never had much success in it although things will grow albeit slowly.

Any ideas ? Alpine Strawberries ? Potatoes ?

I made my own. If you go to a Wyvale or paradise park garden centre, they sell things called sun tunnels....basically a large tray with a clear plastic cover over it. I bought a couple of reptile heat mats from ebay and ive got a large propagator. I sow my chillis and toms in shallow takeaway dishes that ive put holes it, the heat seems to get into them better.

Has anyone got over wintered chillies from last year? I planted mine too late so didn't get much fruit, but I cut them to stumps and I think most of them are still alive. I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do now, is there a method to get them growing again?

To over winter chillies, the roots must me kept above zero degrees. This has been possible in my greenhouse so far this year. Other years I have had to bring them in doors. I only over winter the varieties which are harder to germinate and need a long time to grow on. Usually the hotter ones. Naga and the likes. The milder ones I do from seed yearly. Has something to do with the capsicum family they come from.

Looks like we have a confirmed Spring at last ! Sown some Scotch Bonnets and some beef Tomato seed I picked up from Seedy Sunday, Coeur de Boeuf, Beef Tomatoes. Looks like the Jalapeno's have survived, they still have green stems and I'm hoping that there will be a few leaves appearing soon. The Birds Eye's have also survived along with my solitary Goats Horn and Aji Pickled Frog.

This year I am going " Bee Friendly " as they are under serious threat from a variety of issues. I will be doing lots of companion planting near my peas and beans up the allotment plus more in the back garden. I'm hoping this is ok with the mods as I have no connection with the company but I discovered this company online and their range of Wild Flower Seed and Bee friendly plant seeds are amazing.

My overwintered Jalapeno's are slowly waking with a few small green shoots showing. Looks like my Goats Horn hasn't survived the winter though which is a pity as it was very prolific last year. How's everyone else doing ?
