I'm sure a 27 year old Championship winger was exactly what Newcastle fans had in mind when the Saudis took over.

Hmmm quite, better than Derby most certainly, but is Tom Lawrence Premier League quality? I sincerely doubt it. He has been around for a good few years now, l've a feeling that if he was good enough he would have made the transition by now.

Plus if this is the extent of Newcastle's ambitions, then l really do have serious doubts about their survival.

Up until this recent flurry - Tom Lawrence has a fairly poor goal scoring record. In fact most Derby fans I know (£37k a week wages aside) wanted rid of him a while back.

Does has some quality, but doesn't display it enough.
