Why did I open this expecting the film poster to be of Schelotto instead of Hanks?

Before anyone moans that it is the Yanks winning the Battle of the Atlantic now; the film is based on the book "The good Shepherd" by C.S. Forester, the British author who wrote the Hornblower novels and the African Queen, amongst others - he knew how to write a good story:thumbsup:

Lets be honest Saving Private Ryan is the ultimate war film. That first 25 minutes in particular was seeing a brilliant director at the absolute peak of his form. He has done nothing better before or after. It was just astonishing the impact of that. People around me were weeping and just traumatized which I guess was the point.

Based on... so it doesn't mean they won't use some "artistic license" ???
