Wow, seems well over the top. There's little social distancing happening in most jobs and we don't hear of managers/owners of business's screaming their heads off threatening the sack.

I like his films though. [emoji3]

TC funds a lot of his own movies. It’s how he gets away with doing all his own stunts. If the production gets shut down, he loses tens of millions. If he cared that much about Covid he wouldn’t be flying production crews around the globe. He’s just looking after his money.

Production is shut down now anyway.

Production isn't shut down - he's trying to demonstrate that film making is possible in these difficult times - others filmmakers are monitoring the situation. What is certain is that the person who submitted the audio will lose their job .....but in the meantime work will continue to complete the movie. I'm closely related to one of the production team - I believe that TC take his moral responsibility very seriously and has a great affinity with the UK film industry ( he spent most of lockdown in the U.K.) the current team are tested for covid weekly and nobody isn't put at risk by flying around the globe. Youre right he has a lot of money invested in this project and does not want to see it be further delayed... but at the same time is doing all he can to ensure that the production is covid secure.

Sounds like one of my rants to my kids when they’ve left the milk out.

I work up to a really decent head of steam to reach peak rant, it that tails off dramatically as I realise I’ve likely overreacted a bit.

This outburst, scientology, all the Cruise shenanigans in general... none of it is as weird as actually believing that anyone would want "Mission Impossible 7".

I often wonder are actors like Tom cruise actually CIA operatives.
He is actually a very highly trained individual with the perfect cover of being a film star enabling him to visit any location on the planet.

Been confirmed to happen in the past. Dunno about Cruise though. Celeb CIA operatives historically often were members of the Council on Foreign Relations so if you want to have some interesting names, thats where I suggest you look.

If the Christian Bale "Terminator Salvation" rant taught me anything, it's when stuff like this gets leaked from a set, the movie is in trouble. Bad morale, a troubled production and someone unhappy enough to leak it. This stuff happens from time to time but we never hear about it for a reason.

In other words, I'd wait for the reviews before seeing this picture.

One of my old school mates is good friends with TC (worked together on a number of movies now) and hes been working on the new MI film with him over in Italy the last 3 months. May have to message him and get his take on all this - from what I've seen on his social media page over the last few weeks, guidelines have been followed on set and no-one has been flippant about distancing etc., so I was surprised & disappointed to hear the audio yesterday. If there has been a severe breach of protocols though, good on TC for losing his Sh1t....although I wouldn't like to be the person who leaked that recording right now!

Apologies the shut down news was an old story, my mistake. Anyway, I defer to your knowledge and stand corrected.

To be fair, Tom Cruise is right here. He’s correct to point out reckless actions would cost people’s jobs if they have to shut down.

Maybe it’s not how snowflakes like things to handled and it’s not HR approved, but he’s entirely correct.

The Sun are reporting that five crew have quit following a second outburst.

Reports elsewhere claiming they walked claiming constructive dismissal.

They belong to the same union as me, BECTU, who look after stage crew, production crew and lighting technicians, that sort of thing. The union are very supportive and I wouldn't be surprised if this happened following their advice.

Yes,the filming of a Hollywood blockbuster is a perfect cover for CIA if they are after a target in a foreign country.recruit an actor give them loads of training for the"role",then whilst there is a break in filming the actor or actress is using her skills to steal secrets or assinate targets.
I often think of Tom cruise as that sort of operator hiding in plain sight as it were.but you are correct because of his Scientology he doesn't feel like a government agent, maybe heads up the intelligence wing of scientologists.

Always good being in a union.
I was sacked from a job working on the Bumper cars in a fairground.
My union heard about it and told me it was a clear case of FunFair Dismissal.

I have to say, I've always liked Cruise's movies. They're pretty good low concentration, popcorn fare. I agree with him too on this point, he's the main man on the whole franchise (star and exec producer) and he's spot on about the impact shutting down has on people lower down the food chain in the movie business.

I'm just glad he's not forcing people to ignore social distancing.

Joking aside, in my industry my union is one of the few with any actual sway. I've never used their services for issues like this, but I've taken some great training courses and useful things which are more than worth the membership - along with the benefits (union negotiated rates, access to forums) etc. Most unions aren't worth shit nowadays. Plus the potential support should i need it as a freelancer

There's ways and means of doing things. The article references tensions on set for months - obviously there is something else going on too which perhaps led to the nature of the outburst however justified it was
