Kayal was Mr. committed as ever, but Stephens is just not hitting the spot at the moment. Pass it left, pass it right, pass it back, he struggles to find a decent forward pass, no telling defence splitting passes today, lacking commitment in tackles and no presence in the opposition box. he needs to up his game and when the going gets tough etc.

One or two shots Stephens had on target today? I forget.

Maybe when you lose half of the team who established the whole legacy of 'togetherness' at the beginning of the season to a horrendous, merciless injury crisis...this is what happens. Imagine when we get Bong, rosenior, Baldock, LuaLua, March, Greer back, along with Towell, Ridgewell and a 20-30 goal a season striker back. Maybe that will galvanise us and potentially - just maybe - we can come through this tough period and rejuvenate the chase for an automatic-promotion place.

I think the shout came when Goldson made contact with the ball, hence the lack of conviction in his 'clearance.'

One of the softest OGs I've ever seen, and Wolves were utterky white, three wins or no.

Have you forgotten Dunks keepy uppy against Liverpool when we 'won' 4-3 (we scored more than them).

Northern Hemisphere.
It's not even vaguely similar.

Fair enough, but I'm sure the togetherness is still there amongst the squad. They certainly seemed together for what I watched today. Plenty of times you'll see players score own goals and not have the squad giving him hugs and kisses. I think Goldson actually took it well and didn't let it effect his game. He's probably the sort of player who has a strong head. Maybe the rest of the team considered this at the time?

More worrying than making a visible gesture for the benefit of the crowd (why does everything need to be 'seen' in today's world, FFS just get on with things quietly), was the heads down walking back to centre circle. Everyone looked deflated and utterly defeated with 70mins still left to play. Think the lack of goals meant the players then knew they'd lost. Now that's worrying, once we concede we know a 1-1 draw is the best we can hope for. Shades of Poyet, Garcia, Hypia and indeed Hughton sides from the past few seasons. We must have one of the worst shots on target and goals totals of any club in recent seasons. Huge swathes of seasons that have been appallingly barren.

Very true, I said the same in the pub.

Oh for a wee bit more conviction in the final third... Just a week but... Please.

I agree with the gist of this, and ordinarily I agree with the 'need to be seen to be doing something' culture, but as anyone who's played, even Sunday league, will know that when you eff up, you will beat yourself up over it and it always helps when your teammates have a friendly word, even if it's to take the piss. This is particularly important with the younger lads.

I'm not bothered by the situation, only that it was slightly disappointing. I certainly won't be losing sleep!

Genuinely can't remember anything of note from him, he is predictable, pedestrian, needing to have two touches and slow when in possession. I don't want to be saying this, but this is what I have seen across the last three or four games.

Must have seen a different game to me, we'll agree to disagree.

All fair points. Also, no one knows what happened in the dressing room.

Well, I'm grumpy and in a sgt major mood. I'd have screamed don't do that again you f'ing spanner and expected him to pick himself up and get on with things out of fear of another bollocking rather than comforting him, though I appreciate this isn't how things are done today.

To me, one of the most disappointing aspects of today was that not one single player came and put a comforting arm around Connor Goldson or had an encouraging word for him. Even Stockdale, who seems to pride himself on the unity aspect, went missing at that point.

We hear so much about this togetherness, but it appears to be on hiatus at the moment sadly.

What's the problem, he's not a child and he had a pretty decent game. They all looked together for me and I am sure they didn't cold shoulder him at half time.

Full praise for Goldson for not going into amateur dramatic mode. Top young pro, mature beyond his years.

Unlike Dunk. Fair play to the boy for his fierce desire to score today. But he gave the post such a hefty kick towards trhe end when his header clipped the bar that he was lucky not to break a metatarsal

Why didn't Stockdale shout as he had it covered

I assumed he did, hence why he went on a frustrated wander away from Goldson rather than comfort him or just blow his top.

FWIW when Dunk cocked up against Ipswich Stockdale went straight over to him, picked him up and gave him a visible 'come on don't worry about it' gesture whereas today
he ignored Goldson and strolled out to the edge of the penalty area muttering epithets to the heavens. Don't know if this means anything but that's how I saw it.

Dunk sunk to his knees and wasn't getting up. Stockdale picked him up. Stockdale did speak to Goldson after the goal, but didn't need to pick him up. You and I have no idea what he actually said, but I would imagine it was appropriate.
