What I don't get is........ as Sanchez played v spurs and the last 2 games (and will surely continue for now), and as Maty was previously the number 1. why is Steele always on the bench?

If the club saw Sanchez as the next best previously, and surely as Ryan as the next best now, why are they never the subs for each other?

Perhaps Sanchez was never the sub keeper because the skills needed of a sub goalkeeper are viewed different to those of a second choice keeper? Especially if you want your second choice keeper to be playing regularly, thus is off making appearances with the under 23s the day before/after the current premier league. While your back up keeper is there on the bench prepared with the right attitude to step in on the unlikely event that he is needed.

Then With Sanchez stepping into first choice, perhaps Ryan not being on the bench is an indication of how badly he has taken being dropped, or perhaps an indication that his being dropped isn't about performance but something else, or perhaps it is about rewarding the back up goalkeeper for his professionalism in seeing the younger guy jump ahead him, or perhaps it's about not wanting Maty on the bench so everyone can look to him if Sanchez messes up as if to say 'wouldn't happen with him on the pitch' putting added pressure on the youngster.

I guess because Steele is number 2 GK, Sanchez has jumped ahead of he and Ryan. Presumably, initially, because of the need of his height.
Ryan not being on the bench now is because he is off.

I've managed to reach an almost zen like acceptance that we are bereft of confidence, utterly toothless and there is fock all the uninspiring Potter can do about it. I don't get angry anymore because I've lost hope. Wonderful.

Didn’t lose
Created a lot of chances (again). I’d be heavily Potter out if weren’t creating so much
Zeqiri finally appeared
Sanchez
Good for Welbeck to get another goal
VAR didn’t ruin the game
On a personal level, I got a last minute ticket on the exchange, meaning I’ll be at the first three home games
Atmosphere was good and I was pleased the fans didn’t boo at the end.

We never gave up and as a result saved a point, Sanches made a great save and generally looked composed, Bossuma Has become very consistent, nice to see some crowd back, we could and should have scored more hitting the bar post heading over even Dunk made a great clearing header to get the ball out of the box and back up field from OUR corner! Sorry positives nice to see Swiss Tony get on the pitch

We're fourth in the opta xpts table. Where we would be with average conversion for and against us.

9th for chances created (xG)

3rd for least chances created against us (xGA)

That shows that the gameplan is working, apart from the finishing.

If only we could finish.

The commentator (think it was this game) observing the defender laying horizontal at the base of the defensive wall saying he was 'playing the' draught excluder role'.

We are creating chances and could even have got a dramatic late winner. We are two points off Arsenal who have Chelsea next. WBA just lost. Leeds and Palace got battered.
