Paynter is a woeful player and is way, way out of his depth at this level. He is a League 1/2 striker at best. Here are just a few of his many attributes:

He has no pace at all
He can't head the ball
He rarely moves off the ground
He has little or no skill on the ball.
The ball bounces off of him virtually all the time
He has no vision
He often doesn't bother to compete for the ball
He has no passion.
He has no commitment
The game tends to pass him by
He has shown nothing as a striker
He has created very little for any of our other players and, worst of all,

He doesn't seem to give a toss about playing for Brighton.

January can't come quickly enough for me. Please take him back Leeds.

Moan over.

All the same sort of rubbish that was said about Chris Wood last season but we still done well with him in the team, We're not doing too bad lately with Paynter in the team either.

Possibly his best contribution is winning freekicks ???

He's just like Emile Heskey...big lump that goes down like a sack of spuds every time he's touched.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's shit by any means, but I don't think he's added much to the team so far either.
