and by jove we need it.

Have we ever been as put upon as we are right now, fellas?

It's good to finally get some recognition for all our pain and suffering.
As a middle aged white man, I think I feel our hardship more than any other group in society, so I'm relieved I can have a day where I'm appreciated and my oppression is lifted.

Am I right brothers?

How long has this been a thing?

Sorry, on the one hand I get your joke.

But on the other hand it makes me cringe. Nobody has it easy. Plenty of women suffer, plenty of men suffer. Life can be pretty hard, and genitals don't make any signigicant difference.

I don't think women should be mocked, and I don't think men should be either.

Even if they are of a particular race.

It's hard being divided, either you see a joke or you don't. I'm sure we are all aware that plenty of people and wildlife and land areas suffer, but was that the joke ?

Enjoy your day fella's there will be many hard working, kind, great fathers, great husbands, fantastic role models and genuinely lovely people that deserve all the appreciation you can get.

But if you want to know why men get a lot of grief in the media it is because they cause a lot of it. Over 90% of murders are caused by men. 98% pedophiles are men and majority of domestic violence and rapists are men. The issue is not women making men look bad it is actually a small percentage of men that make men look bad.

For balance women can be @rseholes as well. Sometimes they do that really annoying thing of not watching the HD channel and insisting on watching inferior picture quality. Unbelievable!

Yes, in as far as stats can be. Though it’s starting to look a little futile as a campaign cause people just mock it. Personally find it baffling that such issues are considered not worth discussing.

Certainly this all needs to be discussed especially the suicide rate. Society needs to understand the reason's why, in order to help.
Is the violence towards men though caused by other men? I do not know the statistics.

Mostly, it is indeed. The statistic is important because we often have a perception in society that women are more likely to be victims when we should all be aware that we can be likely targets.

This is a brilliant documentary mainly because the presenter just listens, she makes a point of not interrupting or countering but just listening. We need more men to talk about their concerns, worries, fears and issues........but we also need more people to listen.

Men make up 81% of all war deaths. http://www.bmj.com/content/336/7659/1482

A large number of men lose out on seeing their children http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/th...in-single-parent-homes-has-nearly-doubled-in

It is time to start seeing gender equality as a two way street.

It is worth noting that a large number of these statistics do not apply to many on here, as they are based on US statistical samples. You could reasonably add in those male spiders that get eaten by their partner post sex, the impact is the same.

This one Men are over twice as victimised by strangers as women. http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/..., it just seems like an unfathomable problem.

It certainly seems to me then that because men cause the violence that people are subconsciously not taking violence towards men as seriously (not sure if that is correct word) It is seen as men fighting each other rather then one being more of a victim. But no person, man or women should be intimidated, scared and beaten.

It's incredibly complex, I can understand why men get very frustrated about the perception, but I also think it is wrong to blame women for highlighting the issues that they face.

The problem is you have to start discussions rationally and not with preconceived ideas that it is all men's or all women's fault. Unfortunately I can't see that happening any time soon. I just hope that if there is any man in a bad place they are able to get the help they need.

When has anyone blamed women or said its women’s fault? These issues are societal issues and often caused by men themselves. Absolutely no way have I said women are to blame. This is why these discussions end up falling apart.

I was not implying that you said it was women's fault, sorry if you thought that. I seen a lot of article's were men are blaming feminism, for their felling of unhappiness even in the video that was posted in this thread.

Ah gotcha. Apologies. Yes, I agree with you on that, those views lower the tone somewhat and are not useful to the discussion.

My wife would remind me that every day is a 'Mens Day' ...tbf, I'm struggling to disagree

The most common and predictable reply I’ve been hearing all day.

So let’s shut up andnot discuss it but if we take that route then we will just have to put up with men dying on the streets and taking their own lives.
