Just in the short stretch of A259 coast road three pubs have closed/demolished in the past few years. The Half Way House at the bottom of Station Road. The King's Head and the Harbour View.

Recognise this?. Painted by Frederick Nash

I assume this is the pub by portslade town hall.

Painted between 1834 and 1876

Think it is in the Tate, but can’t be sure.

I'd say thats definitely looking past what is now the Schooner, towards Pebbles on the Port (or the Newport Inn, as it is now known). I've walked that little cove many a time, on my way to a cold one amongst the moored boats. Great pic.

It's the end of the Schooner in Southwick, and the yacht club. would have been mostly beach front then, the first lock was about 1850.
