I'd be very surprised if Newcastle didn't finish in the top 8. There is still a chance of the cup winners finishing outside the top 8, yes. One of Palace and Fulham will be in the semis

Not the point you were getting at but it strikes me, Liverpool made up 16 points on Tottenham over 8 games.

Next 3 games looking difficult. Come out of those with 4+ points would be a decent return and set us well for the remaining 7.

That's the only way I am looking at it. I'd even take 3 draws if necessary as it takes points from them too.
