That was a party election broadcast on behalf of the slightly silly party. Meanwhile, Arthur Negus has held the two Bristols.

Labour don't always get it right, far from it, but at least their heart is in the right place. They are trying to make the country a fairer more inclusive place for our kids and our grandkids. The near-collapse of the Western system of capitalism was not their fault. They are however having to deal with the fallout and IMHO they are doing it damn well.

Experts had predicted growth of 0.2%, but today's figures leave the UK in the grip of the longest period of continuous decline since ONS records began in 1955.
Unemployment is at a 14-year high and steadily rising towards three million.

:whisky:

It shrunk by 0.4% third-quarter fall between July and September forgot to add.

There ARE no experts. Nobody knows anything. Unemployment is rising and nobody is spending any money because they've either lost their job or are in fear of losing their job. Talk of a recovery is just wishful thinking and a very large number of companies are using the recession as an excuse to reduce head-count. If it wasn't the recession, they'd find some other reason to reduce head-count. That's how companies are. Ideally they'd like to run their businesses with no employees at all.

Here's where it leads when companies are given free rein to treat their employees like shit:

'France Telecom is struggling to deal with a wave of staff suicides which has seen more than 20 workers take their lives in the past 18 months – some leaving notes blaming job stress and misery at work.'
