Legendary star of screen and stage, aged 90.

Married of course to Prunella Scales.

I really enjoyed the series on Canal Journeys.

Poor quality video transfer, but Timothy West as Dr. Bodkin Adams.

Remember watching this when it came out.

Many fine roles, but in our house he'll forever be remembered for his guest appearance in 'A Very Peculiar Practice'. Particularly the much repeated line: 'My compliments to the chef and would he care for a fist fight with Professor Furey?'

Great actor - I first remember him in Brass - but from the canal programmes always came across a lovely man and husband.

With his many appearances on stage and screen, it's quite fitting really that he should be on TV today.

Artie Simkins in Doctors on BBC1 now.

A great actor. You look at his CV and he has really done it all.

RIP Timothy.

I fear most people will be wondering how Prunella will manage now. By all accounts, he was her rock. Of course, he was also a fine actor. RIP.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..

Timothy West, who has died aged 90, wrote an autobiography in 2001 in which he quoted a remark of Richard Strauss: “I may not be a first-rank composer but I think I may be a first-rate composer of the second rank.” West argued that since most of the major roles he had played – including King Lear, Falstaff and Prospero – had been in touring or regional theatre, he probably belonged in the second rank. But he was being unduly modest.

I love the canal programmes - rewatched many times and one of my go to shows to crash out to alone… along with Bob and Paul fishing. Very sad news, Pru must be lost without him
