Time to write this season off

Well played mate. Nice of you to keep that little bit of what-goes-around-comes-around up your sleeve for the past, what, four months. I'm flattered. Got news for you tho hombre. We're as shite now as we were back in the New Year - and you STILL can't evaluate what's put in front of you on a football field. I mean, did you actually WATCH 119.8 minutes of the game last Thursday? It was plain embarrassing. Hope to Christ you're not a SPORTS journo... :D Personally I don't take back a word of those posts from way back when. We've struggled all season, our away form has been a joke, our home form has been worthy of promotion about five times MAX this season and we should have been promoted in an automatic stylee from this most dismal of divisions about Easter if we'd been any cop. We ARE very very average. But - hey! - if Sunday puts Falmer in the shop window :clap2:  :clap2:

But you were wrong if you wrote the season off. We are better than all teams who didn't get in the play-offs. And I'm not sure we'll get hammered every week next season either. Our defence could keep us up

Bloody hell, INNIT, this season is so boring. Never mind, when have we last had one of those. Maybe we've been spoilt a bit over the last few seasons.

Tom is dead right, we were embarrassing against Swindon. What was the point of winning those penalties? We'll only get outclassed on Sunday and how bad will that make everyone feel :nono: And if by some fluke we win and end up in Division 1, what would be the point of that? We'll just get hammered from here to Elland Road and back. And if by some gross miscarriage of justice we finish fourth off the bottom, what would be the point of that? The harsh laws of football are bound to catch up with us in season 2006-7 and we'll be dead certs for the drop then. And if by some miracle we escape then too, just how embarrassing will it be playing the worst football in the division in our lovely new stadium - it will be an insult to all those who've fought so hard for it. And if we're saved once again by the new revenue streams, what would be the point of (cont p94).

Let's face it, even if we do somehow manage to blag our way through the play-offs and get promotion we're more than likely going to get battered in Division 1 and come straight back down again.

Personally I've accepted that we've not got what it takes and have given up on getting stressed because we're not ten points clear. Yes this is an extremely poor Division 2, but we're not really any better than anyone else and it's time we realised that.

I'm not interested in apportioning blame, it's been a combination of things: not replacing Paul Brooker, Coppell leaving, McGhee taking time to make his mark, the injuries to Blackwell, Rodger etc and so on.

All we do now is enjoy the rest of the season. There's some cracking away days coming up, QPR, Luton and Wycombe to name just three, and we should just relax now and look forward to some good days out.

There's a whole shed load of players out of contract at the end of the season, as there was after Adams first took over. Have faith in McGhee and I'm sure that next season, along with the prospect of Falmer on the way, we'll be serious challengers once again.

This season's boring. Great stuff, when did we last have one of those? Fans of most other clubs would run through a brick wall to have the last three or four seasons that we've had. And it says something when you can write the season off when you're still in fifth position. Perhaps we've been spoilt a touch?

Look at this season as a 'transitional period'. Once we get it out the way McGhee can get shot of the dead wood and bring his own men in, Falmer will be started and then we can really look forward.

erm looks to me like safeway got it SPOT ON. i imagine this post was in response to all the usual moaning shite that goes on on here. if our manager thought we should be wearing bandit masks after the swindon game then i'd say we might have blagged our promotion a little bit (just a little bit mind! we did finish above them)

this one was good though...

Agreed, but i aint going to roll over and die yet, i think we will somehow survive this season, And Falmer will be underway.
