Because there are some on here for whom the need to get their knickers in a knot about something, anything, no matter how silly is a pathological and deep-seated one which needs to be constantly satisfied.

Yes but some of these people literally saved the Albion. They went to Gillingham, where you could count the attendance by doing a school outing type headcount.

Don't forgot that. They saved then Albion. And you didn't. Did you?

What's the phrase that has something to do with stretching a point so far, the only way it can be made and agreed with, is by likening it to Nazi Germany?

Godwin's law - where an Internet argument goes on long enough someone will alway use a nazi/hitler analogy?

this exactly
if you cannot trust the club to give out the attendance(that is the people who are actually there) and then if you want the people who have paid to be there(some of which have decided not to go for whatever reason) how in gods name can you trust them on anything else.
you might ask yourself this why would they not do as appose to why should they.

back to that word TRUST again

Maybe because it's dishonest? Doesn't count the crowd? Is a meaningless number, detached from any reality? That good enough?

none of which is true....it is anything but dishonest as it accurately reflects tickets sold and is therefore in every sense real. However, declaring a lesser figure might quite reasonably be viewed (by HMRC for example) as being less than open.
If it doesnt suit your retro view of what used to be and is therefore intrinsically wrong then that says more about you than it does about football in the 2010's.

Extraordinary knicker wetting in this thread. What next? Is a korma pie real food?

Regards to all from sunny Cornwall. Well, sunny earlier, obviously. A bit dark now.

attendance means the people who are there watching the match
and should not include those who are not
that is what attendance means those attending

So would people prefer if the club said we sold 26500 tickets but only 24000 have turned up of which 200 are from Burnley or whoever. Or 24000 are in atendance but we sold 26500 tickets.

And the empty seats in the Albion's Directors' Box was disappointing...... how about offering them to nearby 1901 bods at 2.45pm as a goodwill gesture (or better still non-1901 fans). Great bit of PR for the Club + the Directors can get feedback from their 'customers'. Just a thought.

Btw does PB still meet with supporters in the concourses in the lead up to KO and at half-time & after the final whistle? I think he did this in Year 1?

Didn't we win a game or something yesterday?

...Yes but that's not important right now it seems.

As I mentioned earlier out of curiosity I looked up the attendance for the Barnsley game last year, same Saturday and I was there. There were about 1500 more quoted for attendance yesterday than for that game which is surely cause for some small pleasure even if it appears that the methodology used to calculate attendance seems to fill some of us with angst (angstful, is that a real word, I would like to think it is).

I am in the "look at my face, is this a bothered face" camp personally.

... whereas "official attendance" includes loads of people who didn't actually attend at all! Marvellous. So both "official" and "attendance" get redefined at a stroke.

"How big's the crowd today?" is an honest question, asked every week in grounds up and down the country. From now on, we'll never know.

It's nothing to do with this club, it's every club in the division, it's every club in leagues around Europe, it's what they do.

Pretty much every club does this now when they announce attendances so I don't know why people get so bothered about it.

Exactly. We've been one of the last clubs to do it. Palace the season before last quoted an attendance 3k over what the actual attendance was which helped hide the fact they only had about 11-12k fans turn up to their derby

strange the commentary team mentioned 23k............then shut up
I've noticed the @OfficalBHAFC delete a fair few tweets. Last week they tweeted Something about Oscar happy with new signing Ireland, it was then deleted and Ireland replaced with Ward...very strange
