Would have been a factor for us though. it's the cash or nothing for Chelsea now. If you want to stump up the fee then the deal can get done, we've been open as a club and a fanbase about that. Until now Chelsea have yet to offer a fee that will remotely interest us and quite frankly it's a little tedious. At the end of next season that £100m will look a bargain if you ever pay it.

I suppose a lot of this will depend on Caicedo's attitude - if he stays, knuckles down and commits himself to the cause then Bloom is right to play hard ball. If he causes a stink then Albion could have a problem on their hands, and De Zerbi has already shown, with Sanchez, he's not adept at handling the ego of a disgruntled player.

That's why I see the deal being done - Chelsea take 2 unhappy players from Brighton in return for a massive wedge.

The other issue though is the Caicedo replacement. If as reported Albion were looking at Ugachukwu then Bloom appears to be being outmanoevered by Boehly. If not then it's less of an issue. Overall though with all that noises being made it would seem it's likely that Moises Caicedo moves this window.

We paid 60m+ for Cucurella because Boehly was ignorant about football and fair value for players. You would've never sniffed 60m+ if Winstanely and Stuart were in charge at the time

The other factor that you alluded to was Chelsea want to dodge FFP in the short term by paying over a stupid period and long contracts. A stop has been put to that and indeed Bloom will want a huge chunk upfront.

Arsenal fans said the same thing in January.
Moises was left out of the team for one game to get his head right and then came straight back into the side.

I'm sure Moises will be disappointed, but he has already stated that he is happy at Brighton and will "leave it in God's hands" .

At this moment in time Chelsea are offering a well funded project and nothing else.
The Boehly era hasn't achieved anything of worth as yet and the current manager does not have an impressive track record.
Next season Moises gets to step up a level and play in the Europa league.
Moving to you allows him to tread water, while Chelsea sort themselves out.

Waiting to see how well things shape up next season, won't do him any harm at all.
