He's only got two years on his current deal and unless there is a massive change of heart on both sides of the divide that will only be getting shorter. We don't have much leeway with the Sanchez sale as we have had with others. This time it's in no-ones best interests to keep him around so he'll more than likely be sold on for a lot less than people expect. We won't be giving him away but this window and the January window probably represent the last chance for getting something looking like a half decent fee for him.Sanchez, Caicedo,Colwill. All linked whether Chelsea like it or not. We won’t be giving Sanchez away cheaply. Tony won’t be quite so emotional about Sanchez as some posters on here. What matters and determines his value is his contract. Nothing else. His ability is public knowledge as our previous first choice keeper.
Surely his value to the team determines his value?Sanchez, Caicedo,Colwill. All linked whether Chelsea like it or not. We won’t be giving Sanchez away cheaply. He doesn’t fit in to the plans at the moment. What if RDZ leaves though and a new manager likes him ? He was our 1st choice until recently and is a quality keeper. If he wasn’t then Chelsea wouldn’t want him. They can have him if they pay the price required to terminate his contract.Surely his value to the team determines his value?
Length of contract makes no difference if he’s not part of the plans, if anything might make Tony more likely to offload for a reasonable price given the contract is probably worth $$$
I think that’s the most important part. The depreciating time on his contract will determine the price so I agree with you. He's only got two years on his current deal and unless there is a massive change of heart on both sides of the divide that will only be getting shorter. I thought it was interesting that during one of the recent games the US commentary team, when discussing Brighton's goalkeeping options, made no mention of Sanchez, but did mention the up and coming youngsters.Sanchez moving on would suit all parties l would have thought. We would be lucky get even a quarter of that amount though l would think.
Sometimes though it's necessary to just do the deal to move the player on. Pretty apparent he won't be seen in an Albion shirt again, third in the pecking order now.
For the same reason they'll choose a good player who has engineered a move/ handed in a transfer request etc. to force a move?Eh? Why would you choose a goalkeeper who has publicly REFUSED to play second choice/compete for his spot as a suitable candidate to bring in to play second fiddle to Kepa?
Agreed, l think any deal for Colwill is dead in the water, especially now we have bought in Igor.Even if Sanchez was worth that sort of money I think Colwill is off the agenda now, unless Webster is going to move on.
I'm just guessing here but I think the swap for Colwill thing was a joke.Agreed, l think any deal for Colwill is dead in the water, especially now we have bought in Igor.
Chelsea reportedly turned down our offer of £40m, and Sanchexz probably wouldn't even fetch half of that amount.
Strange isn't it, how fickle NSC can be? Sanchez comes in - he's cool, calm, unflappable and can dominate the box in a way tiny Maty Ryan never could - and reach shots he couldn't either. There was even that wonderful set of pictures, a la the Fry's Five Boys advert - of Big Bob happy sad, angry, anxious and whatever else - all with exactly the same picture! If Verbruggen continues to look as solid as he did the other night, won’t be a loss at all. Imagine the frothing at the mouth about Robert’s rather laidback demeanour the first time he flaps at a corner at Stamford Bridge.
The ruthless types tend to be the best managers, we finished top six so far RDZ has made the right calls you can’t argue with that.Strange isn't it, how fickle NSC can be? Now, however, that De Zerbi has decided he can't play De Zerbi ball (and, so far at least, De Zerbi is the messiah, and can't do anything wrong) his calmness is laziness, his unflappable-ness indicates he's too casual, blah blah blah ..................... and even though he probably feels (with a degree of justification TBH) that he's been thrown under the bus by De Zerbi, he's now apparantly (according to NSC at least) a bad character, a bad influence, a sulky waster and a rubbish GK we've got to get off the books (we have to, yes - but for his sake, not ours).
OK, Steele has done well, he can pass the ball round a bit better, and Verbruggen has probably been brought in to replace both of them - but for good or ill, De Zerbi's got a ruthless streak as well behind that smiling nice guy face. As someone on here has said, his door is always open ........ but it may also be labelled 'Way Out'.
I hope Sanchez finds a good club, with a manager that appreciates him, and has a good career. Some of the stick he's got on here beggars belief.
