Time to assume that Southampton are out of the relegation battle for good?

Sadly, Pardew seems to know what he is doing and although many of you think he's a shit manager I think it's obvious his team are more likely to make the play offs than continue down in the relegation zone.

I was rather hoping given their late rescue bid and the fact that they were dropping into League One that they may have struggled a bit this season. But they seem to have invested well in manager coach and players, in fact imo before a ball was kicked we were probably more likely to make the playoffs than them. We have seriously underachieved whilst they have definitely overachieved. Shame.

Possibly, but they would pick up at some point.

Where did the Lambert money come from?

Spending a shitload of money hasn't dragged us above teams who've spent virtually nothing in comparison. All very well to say Saints have splashed the cash, so have we and look who has won the most points..by some margin. I hate to do it but just like when he was as West Ham I have to give Pardew a bit of credit as a manager.

When all the figures had been totted up, didn't we finally agree that we spent £700k on players. Southampton spent £1m on just one striker. They should be doing better, as should we.

Oh I agree Icy, my money question was just out of interest :lolol:

To be fair to the money spent on Lambert, he is a proven goal scorer at this level, so was a safe buy..

Icy's assessment is sadly, spot on. They're not in trouble, we are.

That said, we're still only 12 points behind Huddersfield in 5th having played the same number of games (with 26 games still to be played), and we have a decent manager (by the looks of things) and maybe a January WAR-CHEST, so too early to write off the season IMO.

They've splashed a bit more cash than us though. Was it 1million on Lambert? The look on Tony's face when we were linked with Billy Sharp tells you about what he thinks about that kind of money!
