Time for Virgo to resign the captaincy?

Always loads of stuff about Slade, White and Booker never anything about Virgo. I think he is ill suited to the role. We need someone more vocal, prepared to stand up and be counted. A man unaffraid to call the shots (and any other cliches you can think of).

I agree entirely I think Virgo is a very poor captain, Tunnicliffe for me.

Virgo is one of our main problems at the moment. He is SO liable to do something stupid.

I agree on the fact that Fozzie is our best captain, but the reason i think Slade did not choose him is because he is out injured TOO often. Who does it go to when he's out?

He can always be club captain, but when it comes to the pitch, we need consistency.

Dicker, Crofts, Virgo = the only 3 options.

You could add McNulty to that list, perhaps? I know he's been out injured a long time, but that was a freak one-off injury, and I'd have thought he would be one of the few to have a first team spot nailed on.

A midfielder as captain is normally not a bad idea - but we've got so many now (I mentally counted up to eight of them, but I think I might have missed a couple!), and all about the same standard (ie. not quite good enough) that none of them can be guaranteed a game.

Personally, I'd stick with Virgo.............

High up on the South Downs.
The team that won successive championships was full of potential captains: Rogers, Morgan, Carpenter, Cullip, Oatway, Crosby etc.
Part of the problem with the current team is the lack of leaders on the pitch. Losing Owusu wasn't good news either. Forster and Virgo are as good as we've got tbh.

How can Tunnicliffe be captain when he isnt yet good enough to warrant a garaunteed first team place.

And also has very limited experience, perhaps in a couple of years but not now.

Point is James is better than either Virgo or Elphick and should start every game.

I dont think we have a single player in the entire squad who is vocal enough to be captain and i include all of the above.

Never anything about Virgo on here?! People love to lay into him.

I do think Crofts would be our best captain, but there is nothing wrong with Virgo.
