Okay, we're 21st.

Look at the bottom half of the table. We're 4 points above Gillingham, on the same points as 3 other teams, and the team in 13th pace is only 3 points above us. If we'd won on Saturday, we would have been mid-table. So, because we lost, we're going to get relegated  .Talk about extremes.

There will be good times, there will be bad times, but I think we will survive. Also, why rush in loan signings now, leave them in case we get in dire straits towards the end of the season when we may need them. The last season Coppell was here, we'd used so many loan signings so quickly, that at the end we didn't have any left to use when we really needed somone.

ITs not the fact we lost it was the way we played that concerns me. If we play like we did saturday at west ham we will get totally humiliated, thats the concern I have.

Totally agree though its certainly not panic time yet just hope McGhee can inspire some of our players to play better than they did saturday.

Well said Larus, I agree completely. Every time we lose to one of the "lesser lights" in this division, people write us off and go into the "WE'RE DOOOOOOMED" mode. We were always going to struggle this season, but we've pulled out some amazing results on the way already, and if anyone had offered me 21st position, 4 points clear of 22nd after 18 games, I'd have bitten their hand off.

I don't care WHERE Crewe are in the table, as an attacking force they were as good a team as I've seen at Withdean this season. Their 2nd and 3rd goals they cut through us like a knife through butter - that wasn't poor defending, that was just damn good movement and clinical finishing. So we came unstuck on Saturday - I've certainly seen us play a LOT worse thn that and take something from the game. Everyone looks at the scoreline and says "yeah, we were total crap", but behind that scoreline we played some decent stuff in spells. That all gets forgotten though cos we LOST to Crewe, and obviously thats not allowed.

Exactly, we werent that bad, we just didn't take our chances and they did. We are still in the period of the season when a win or two can catapult you up the table the same as a couple of defeats can drag you down.

We lost saturday because Mcghee picked completely the wrong side.

Chippie should start with Nicolas every time in the middle and Currie and Hammond/Jones/jarrett should be on the flanks.

If Virgo is not fit then Molango or Robinson should play, they are strikers after all. Whats all this crap about Moalngo being unfit, well if thats the case then what the hell was Piercy?

At the back Id have El Abd at right, and even possibly consider swapping Hinshelwood for Butters.

We need to get a settled 11 playing together, all this chopping and changing helps no one and reminds me of the days of Hinshelwood!

And while I'm on one, we've also been unfortunate with the level of injuries that we've picked up. Poor old MM must be wondering what it's all about.

El-Abd has been injured.
Butters has been injured.
Cullip has been injured.
Nicolas has been injured.
Carpenter has been injured.
Roberts has been injured.
Piercey has been ill.
Plus Rogers & Blackwell long-term injuries (which would have affected his playing budget)

Knight was suspended from last season.

Give us some consistent team selection, and we'll get stability and then stop leaking the goals.

Being positive, at least David Lee wasn't injured :jester:

I'm guessing the thinking was that Piercy is bigger and should be able to hold the ball up better, shame he had a shit first touch!

We've still got a full compliment of loan signings left and we desperately need someone to score a few goals. That's why we need to get somone in asap.
