I see he's still 12-1 to win the US open despite being 2-0 up in his quarter final match against Hrbaty and playing some rather good tennis. Anyone fancying him this time round??

as 10cc say, not in hove
i'd imagine that gg "the bookies friend" will be "going large" on this one, which is as good as waving goodbye to his chances!

no doubt he'll manage to throw this one way in any event...

He will get all our hopes up by making the semi final, then, he will get hammered!

But what a gallant loser!!!
What a hero :lolol:

I know lets give him sports personality of the year, far better achievement than Kelly Holmes Olympic double :lolol:

It's bad enough watching the inevitable complete capitulation without losing money on it as well :(

Be it quarters, semis or the final he will end up getting thrashed, I wouldn't mind if he could go out in a thrilling 5 setter, but it won't happen, 3 straight sets or a 3-1 defeat is my prediction at some stage.

too many top players still in! thats why he's those odds!

(1) Roger Federer (Swi) v (6) Andre Agassi (USA)
(22) Dominik Hrbaty (Svk) v (5) Tim Henman (GB)
Tommy Haas (Ger) v (4) Lleyton Hewitt (Aus)
(28) Joachim Johansson (Swe) v (2) Andy Roddick (USA)

Just got back from a week in NY to see the tennis.

I would NOT put any money on Tim Henman to win anything at the US Tennis Open - he played pretty badly against a Michal Tabara on Saturday, who was just a qualifier.

My money would be on a Roddick vs Agassi final.

Oh, and it rained so much yesterday we ended up going to central library to recreate the scenes from 'Day After Tomorrow'.

Everyone knocks Henman but he has actually performed better at the Grand Slams this year than any other in his career.

He's been ranked in the top ten for a long time but he would only really win a big tournament with a huge slice of luck. In my opinion he will never perform well enough to beat 3 or 4 top players in the same tournament. Given the lack of talent in tennis in this country for so many years we should be happy that we do actually have someone who has given the nation reason to be interested in tennis at all.

My problem is not Tim but the enourmous amount of pressure heaped on him by a success starved tennis community and media in this country.

I say Well Done Tim! You've done well this year

Tim has done well, but him winning a grand slam is about as likely as Tim Montgomerie winning the Open, Scotland winning the World Cup or Palace winning the Premiership.

Maybe I should put them in a lucky 15!

I can't see it, but he has a good record against Federer (if either get there), and if he got to the final ...

He has done pretty well this year and all - 3R / SF / QF / QF at least. If only he hadn't cocked it up against Antic!
