Would've commanded a bigger fee if he had been prepared to stay this side of the pond I suspect
I would've had him here in a shot and been happy had we paid twice as much

Not the goal threat he was a few years ago and lost his place in the Everton team toward the end of the season. Presumably they want him off the wage bill, but was a fantastic player at his peak.

Probably right time to go as while he used to be amazing, he's heading downhill and better to be remembered as a legend than for one last below standard season. Hope he does well and tears their league apart

This. And he's gone to join Thierry Henry in an amazing city! Can't blame him for wanting a new challenge as less than a dozen teams are better than Everton in England.

It will be good to have him on board. But there seems to be some confusion and the NYRB press release just adds to that. He still has to pass a medical but hopefully could be in place for next Tuesday's game against Spurs if all the paperwork is complete. I was thinking of going to that game but will definitely go if he is playing.

As others have said, he isn't the same player he was 3 seasons ago. Didn't he go 40 games or so without scoring - which was a pretty integral part of his game

i dont think he was ever a goal machine, just one of those players that always got important goals to nick a win or draw so you remember them scoring lots.

He only scored 3 times last season and didn't score in the whole of 2011.

When he isn't scoring doesn't bring a lot else to the side.

Good business for everyone I think.

Imagine if he went to LA.

Beckham with a long whipped high pass from the right edge of the upper pitch. Finding Timothy Cahill in the score box with a Super HEAD-SHOT right into the GOAL BAG.

One of the biggest earners at Everton, most likely free space for Piennar to come back. Quality player, I'm going to miss his celebrations.

Slightly over the hill or not, could have been a great signing for us. Probably on mega-wages though, so never much chance

On the BBC Gossip page it also has that Everton may be selling Heitinga. Sounds like Everton's traditional cash flow problems are continuing.
