It's nothing to do with building the fan base and everything to do with forcing people to buy membership that wouldn't be necessary if they'd just use the fact that you've been to games before as a means of prioritising sales.

All about the ££££££, sadly.

And before anyone repeats what came back last time, I know it contributes to the fantastic squad we currently have, but milking supporters until their dry is NOT how they should be adding c.£200k to the bank balance every year (assuming 10k members). It's a piffling amount in the grand scheme of things and totally unnecessary. They already have your contact details and purchase history and you already have a fan number. Its one of those unnecessary straws.....

We have had 3 bronze memberships for 2 years £150 and only used them to buy semi tickets so far. We have been offered season tickets off the waiting list but we are not in a position yet to buy. If we don't buy next year they stick you at the bottom of the list so no point in having bronze membership really. #notrenewing:moo:

Its hard to use purchase history as a prioritising thing when there are probably in excess of 100,000 who have been to a game at the Amex. Instead I guess they want to reward people who are STH's or members by allowing them to bring guests, and then release the remaining tickets to people with a purchase history

Season ticket holder for every season at withdean and first three seasons at the amex can cough up an extra £40 for this game if you want to come with your young son.

Edit: Notice from the poll they go on general sale Friday. The clubs email doesn't mention this openly.

Block 530. 8 minute wait for tickets, still decent seats left, will possibly all go tomorrow with the STH+ guests.
So excited for this now. Even if we get a spanking, it will be a great day out, loads of noise and a sea of blue and white. Can't wait.

That's the way I'm approaching the day - and anything else (ie a win) is a bonus!

Absolutely. Has to be the right way to look at it. Can't wait for the occasion, a win is a humungous bonus, but not expected whatsoever.

I would have thought that using purchase history from even the Withdean yearswould contravene GDPR as well. I doubt they can keep much of the data they hold without express permission which we now give, but if that purchase history has stopped how can you use data from say 10 years ago if that person didn't at the time grant you permission to retain that data ad infinitum?

Could have put Gillingham years STH holders first, no need to have kept data as they can be identified by their smug super fan mugs.

They don’t maintain the points very far back anyway, do they? I’m not advocating that someone who once went to the Goldstone should still be on the list, but someone with purchase history shouldn’t need to pay extra just for it to be worth something. A loyal customer is just that, not someone to bleed for every £ they’ve got! The club would rather sell to someone with no normal interest in the club who fancies a day at Wembley than someone who has been to several games already this season. It’s just wrong.

So where do you draw the line? Hopefully, by going through all the tiers - ST holders with high number of loyalty points, next ST holders with lower number of points, then all the membership schemes and so on and so forth - then all deserving fans will have the opportunity to purchase a ticket. To be honest I can’t really see a problem here.

At least the process of obtaining a ticket is relatively painless. I remember queuing for FIVE hours at the Goldstone for a Cup Final replay ticket in 1983. Instead of providing an allocation at the turnstiles to speed things up the club decided to issue the tickets at the West Stand office only. The only consolation was that it wasn’t raining.

I'm confused by this logic. It is only a semi-final, one we are likely to lose.

Yet, we have already sold over 27,000 tickets before ST holders can even buy for guests, let alone general sale.

This.

27,000 (but very soon to be 33,400) who’ll be spending countless hours travelling on the day and the cost of it all. All sold in a few days.

It does not indicate that our home stadium should never be enlarged, far from it.

I was in that queue in 1983, too!

It’s about the order that tickets are sold in.

I’m not sure how far back loyalty points remain valid if you have a membership, but my point is that the information is held by the club whether you pay for a membership or not. The tickets should be sold to those with the most points before my Spurs supporting mate who fancies a day out at Wembley. Your points shouldn’t be invalid just because you haven’t handed over more money to the club because they’ve decided Spurs fan can jump in front of you if you don’t!

So thats c6700 left. Im assuming now that all of our allocation is on sale (c2k have been added in dribs and drabs over the last 48 hrs)

If so thats just under 27k albion fans already present on the day. Roughly an entire amex home crowd.

It only takes each one in 3 season ticket holders to buy an additional ticket and then they will be all gone

Given even in the late 70s our home crowds were maxing out at c32k, if we achieve this it would probably our biggest Brighton and hove albion support at a game since the 1950s

May 72 - 34,766 versus Rochdale, with next to no away fans. Two or three thousand locked out.

Balmy May evening.....glorious times..got there at 6pm and the queues were massive

I missed that as very young (didn’t even know BHAFC existed.... shock, horror), but my older brothers did, and told me all about it. Plus there’s the odd old NSC thread about it.

I assume you were also there for the 32,000 to 33,000 plus home matches from 1976 onwards under Taylor, then Mullery. I went to all those, magical as a nipper. Swaying packed crowds on the Chicken Run and NS, I remember the distinct smell of smoke and also beer/Scotch from all the blokes who been to nearby pubs first.

How many did we take to the Millenium stadium for the debagging of cocky Brizzl Titty? The attendance was 65,000 so I iguess it was below Rochdale.

4 in the upper tiers but low down at 9am today. My family and I were those who bought MyAlbion+ memberships for this. We average about two games a season (20+ when in first year at Amex). Club were clever to make us buy them. Living in Suffolk I’m hoping it will help me get tickets to West Ham and Norwich away so it’ll be more than worth it!

So so excited. Literally cannot wait. What a day and atmosphere it’ll be! Albion heaven!
