BBC weather forecast had most of it arriving on the other side of the Isle of Wight to us in Sussex.

There is a cluster of quite active thunder storms that are mid Channel at the moment, but seem to be sliding along the coast. Maybe grazing West Sussex. There is a larger and growing area over inland France which might come our way later.

That cluster appears to be developing a little and may well hit the Sussex coast a little later.

Just driven from Three Bridges back to Burgess Hill - lightning flashing all over the place to the South and East. Plenty of thunder now too.

An impressive one even though I've had to get up to calm the dog.

Was like a disco in RH16, not a lot of loud thunder but more flashing than an old perverts convention

Well, that was a lively one.

Lots of lights and bangs in BN6 but looks like most of it still in the Channel.

Bath, Somerset.
Woken early here in Somerset by an impressive thunderstorm - almost non-stop lightning, and some decent rumbles of thunder.
Now up drinking a cup of tea while watching it from the back door. Pretty spectacular.

Quite something in these parts last night. Possibly the loudest, longest (and closest) thunderstorm I can ever remember in the UK.

Its (in theory) our first evening league cricket match of the season this evening.

I normally sleep like a log, but I was woken up at at 2am on the dot, thinking 'what the FACK is that?' Scared the shite out of me in my half-asleep state and could still see all the flashing through my eyelids. Apparently it looked amazing!
