The only person I have seen drink a pint in the seats is my 70+ Yr old mum when we were championship & new to the Amex. She didn't know the rules.

Friends of my parents used to take white wine in in fruit shoot bottles - pre lid bans
Works a treat!
Ribena is very similar in colour to a nice Shiraz too😉

Newmarket.
last night we saw a guy bring his beer back to his seat midway through first half. I presume the stewards werent paying attention at the entrance.

After 5 minutes, about 4 stewards came over to him and asked him to come with them and ejected him. (I presume fully ejected from the ground as he didnt reappear)

Is that the rule these days? I would have thought they should just take his drink off him
I'm unsure of the legalities.
Can they take his drink off him and refuse to give it back once he's paid for it in the stadium.
Maybe they offer him a choice, surrender your pint or you can drink it outside ? Or in the concourse?
Yeah I know, if he bought a gun he wouldn't get it back but this is a pint bought within the Amex.

White wine? How could they have possibly kept it properly chilled? :wrong:

This was very close to me (if this was East family stand) and nope he wasn't being a dick. Apparently completely unaware of the rules and was surprised he got kicked out. He was with his son so his son left too. Seemed a bit unnecessary and had thought they'd just take the pint off him. I know the rules/law about it but did seem unduly harsh.
I think it's easy to under-estimate the ignorance of people who don't go to football very often when it comes to the rules. I've taken people a couple of times who have been really surprised that they couldn't take drinks to their seats. Someone going along for the first could easily just wander in and sit down with a drink if the stewards aren't on the ball. Throwing them out in that situation is ridiculous.

I was in that stand and from what I could see, the guy didn't argue or make a fuss and left the stand with his son in a very orderly way. There was a beer bottle in the popcorn bucket he was carrying.

Rules are rules and I agree with this one. Besides, with all the stoppages for feigning injury, VAR, excessive goal celebrations people would take that as a cue to get more beer and you'd be forever standing up and sitting down letting people back and forth from the bar.

I must admit that a few years ago when we were allowed flasks, I put Baileys in mine. It looked the same as milky coffee, but people must have wondered why I was sipping it so slowly. Sorry PBOBE I wouldn’t dream of doing it now!

You sure it was a beer bottle? I’m seen worse tricks featuring popcorn buckets elsewhere, certainly not in the East!

Yes , although I'm not a drinker I shall be ordering a quick pre match pint and taking it to my seat the next time RDZ decides to play Steele, Veltman, Moder, Gross and Lallana in the starting 11. :drink:
We need an intervention on rdz to stop us all becoming alcoholic

I think a lot of people that come over from Europe don't know the rules. Whenever I've mentioned this to people here they struggle to believe it.

Some fans I know just simply decant any alcoholic beverage into a tea/coffee/hot chocolate/bovril cup always works very well

Indeed, and particularly if they're normally fans of the RUGGER.

A good reason to introduce safe standing.

Matey may have refused to give up his warm, flat pint of Fosters.....we don't know the full story.
We had a guy near us earlier in the season laugh at me when I said the stewards would have that off him if they saw it.
Exactly. We don't know what went on beforehand, maybe the said invidual had been previously warned that no alcohol was permitted to be taken pitchside . . . but he went ahead anyway.
