[Albion] Thrown out for taking a beer to seat

last night we saw a guy bring his beer back to his seat midway through first half. I presume the stewards werent paying attention at the entrance.

After 5 minutes, about 4 stewards came over to him and asked him to come with them and ejected him. (I presume fully ejected from the ground as he didnt reappear)

Is that the rule these days? I would have thought they should just take his drink off him

Seems ridiculously harsh to me. Just take it off him.

At the women's game last week a steward said to my wife "Sorry but you can't bring that up here- no alcohol allowed in the seats" as she tried to walk up the steps with a large glass of white wine. She replied "It's not alcohol it's apple juice" Steward responded "Oh I am sorry, off you go then". Not sure it would work with a pint though.

Matey may have refused to give up his warm, flat pint of Fosters.....we don't know the full story.
We had a guy near us earlier in the season laugh at me when I said the stewards would have that off him if they saw it.

Presumably this guy ignored a polite request at the entrance and the stewards reported this to their boss. Hence, they returned mob handed after reporting it up the line.

You could say it’s urine. Not too dissimilar to fosters.

Convinced some dickhead who used to sit near me would smuggle a beer to the seats by pouring it into a tea cup or two and putting a lid on it. Haven’t seen him for a few seasons so can neither confirm or deny that the above is a long term workable solution.

This was very close to me (if this was East family stand) and nope he wasn't being a dick. Apparently completely unaware of the rules and was surprised he got kicked out. He was with his son so his son left too. Seemed a bit unnecessary and had thought they'd just take the pint off him. I know the rules/law about it but did seem unduly harsh.

What I do is buy two coffees and a pint of Moretti, pour the coffees away and then fill the cups with the Moretti, before taking them to my seat.

I don't do this, but...

Would you even need to buy the coffees? Take 6 or 8 cups home, clean them up, bring them back, then do the moretti pouring. If questioned on your way to your seat, tell the steward you're a little tired this evening

The pre-entry pat down would doubtless discover them.

The only person I have seen drink a pint in the seats is my 70+ Yr old mum when we were championship & new to the Amex. She didn't know the rules.

Friends of my parents used to take white wine in in fruit shoot bottles - pre lid bans

I had a Moretti from the machine in West Lower last night. My god it was awful. AI might be taking over the world but it can't pour a pint.

It was the sort of performance that needed the dulling effects of alcohol in fairness to him
Yeah, you have to wonder if they took the beer off him and he just thought "screw this, I'm not staying to watch this without a beer" and left of his own accord.

It really depends on the situation. Very harsh if you're just a daytripper. Loads of tourists last night who clearly weren't sure of all the regs. Just politely ask him to finish his drink on the concourse.

If its someone being a pissed up bell, then hoik em down the stairs.
