Maybe the Falklands will do the same to England?
I know you were joking, but the Falklands voted last year, with 99.8% (3 votes) voting to retain their current status.

'Under the present arrangement the oil tax revenues are assigned to an economic region set up by the UK government, which is called the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
This means that oil resources are not officially assigned to Scotland but instead to a region distinct from the British mainland.
But if Scotland were to become independent, and a sovereign state, it would expect the UKCS to be divided up on a "geographical" basis.'
1. Unveil that secret horde of several trillion barrels of onshore oil in the far north of the mainland where nobody lives
2. Continue to redistribute the wealth more fairly among the populace as a whole
3. Rebuild Hadrian's Wall, only much higher and much better defended
see them having to pay for NHS prescriptions
and hospital parking
and student tuition fees
which have all been subsidized by the English tax payers over the years.
Definitely point 3.
We don't want them all flocking down here when it all goes tits up.
The Scottish middle classes will regard us as the New Romanians.
the Scottish middle classes will be on their way south with their companies, or to avoid being taxed to the hilt to pay for Salmond's fairytale.
if they gain independance there will be thousands fleeing to the south (new refugees) so tighter border control and bigger walls would be great.
