What I find strange is that they can introduce VAR to make decisions more 'objective' but they are incapable of introducing technology that times the length of a match correctly.

I honestly don’t think we were going to score today if he added 30 minutes.

That said, it was terrible timekeeping. 4 substitution breaks, @ 30 seconds each, several knocks and delays, such as all the corner shenanigans.

I expected 6.
This!

I was more annoyed he blew up mid-attack, couldn’t wait to give them the point they came for

Frankly I had enough after 93 minutes.

That always pisses me off. I don’t see how any ref can feel they’ve timed the stoppages so precisely that they can blow up with a good attack in progress. Either return to the old convention (Clive Thomas aside) of the ball being near the halfway line or rugby-style continue until the ball goes out of play.

Oh, we wouldn’t have scored if he’d added 300 minutes, but even so…

After the game I was expecting some 'we wouldn't score if we'd played all night' type posts, but the truth is you never know. It's not like we weren't creating chances, and we've scored last minute winners before.

So in conclusion, if the ref had correctly given 5 minutes added time, we would definitely have won.

Have they reduced it generally?

A couple of years ago we saw the emergence of 8, 10, 11 minutes added time. For the first time in history rules applied properly.

Then FIFPro and some whingers on nsc started screaming about player welfare.
As far as I know the only official change is that 30 seconds is allowed after scoring a goal before time is added on but that obviously didn't apply today but there seems to be the suggestion that what we saw last season won't happen again. Which is nonsense. Just stop your watch when a player goes down, when a sub is made or when you spend 2 mins sorting out a corner - it really shouldn't be rocket science.

No goals, no physio on the pitch…..not that unreasonable imo.
The bit that sticks in the mind is the corner that must have chewed up about 2 mins in the second half. From about 65-75 mins if was all very fragmented.

I’d have thought 6 mins was about right but it’s immaterial really.
