Like I've said I hope I'm wrong, but lose Dunk to suspension, a couple of mid season injuries and a couple of players go and I think we'd struggle to maintain 6th or better. I'd also love to see us challenging for the automatic spot because the play-offs aren't good hunting ground for us, are they.

You're right though IF we're in a very strong position come Jan a gambling man might want to stick it all on BLUE!

Re Dunk you don't rate either Goldson or BFG then? Much better options than Greer IMO.

And no one is going anywhere. We'd rather lose them for free.

I think ultimately we will finish in the top 6 this season.. for me, it doesn't matter if that is 3rd or 6th, so I wont worry too much. To really sustain a challenge at the top is tough for any Club, but for us, we need to win the biggest games.. winning at Sheff Wed was the first time I feel we have done that for a while. I know we are hard to beat, and last season we didn't lose many against the top teams but we didn't win many either (haven't checked my records, just my gut feeling - Hull at home I guess.) We have to win against the biggest clubs to make a step up.. if we can beat Norwich and Newcastle then I will be a little more optimistic of an automatic place..

Anyone else feel like we could be going the same way as last season again?

Perhaps so and perhaps this is why ! - Figures are for goals home for against and goals away for and against and total.

TEAM HOME AWAY
FOR AG FOR AG TOTAL

Newcastle United 14 9 13 2 16
Norwich City 12 5 14 13 8
Brighton & Hove Albion 12 4 5 5 8
Huddersfield Town 9 5 6 7 3
Birmingham City 13 8 6 6 5
Sheffield Wednesday 8 7 6 7 0
Bristol City 9 5 11 10 5
Brentford 13 2 6 10 7
QPR 7 11 9 7 -2
Reading 8 6 6 12 -4
Fulham 7 12 9 5 -1
Ipswich Town 8 4 2 5 1
Preston North End 11 11 6 6 0
Leeds United 8 7 5 8 -2
Barnsley 11 11 10 11 1
Wolverhampton Wands 7 8 9 8 0
Nottingham Forest 18 13 5 12 -2
Aston Villa 9 6 4 8 -1
Burton Albion 8 5 8 13 -2
Derby County 2 5 5 5 -3
Blackburn Rovers 9 11 5 10 -7
Cardiff City 5 10 6 11 -10
Wigan Athletic 6 3 7 12 -2
Rotherham United 6 7 8 25 -18

As expected, it is all about NOt scoring goals, we have scored 10 fewer than Newcastle and 9 fewer than Norwich.

Sorry this has been tricky to post inline so if anyone knows how to do it I can forward the table !

I think we will win the league. I said to a few of my mates before the season started.
As I mentioned in another thread I reckon Benitez will go to a struggling Prem side and take a few with him.

At the time, yes, I did too, simply based on recent disappointments and it looked like parachute monied Newcastle and Norwich would out power/spend everyone else.

I didn't count on CH the Genius and the incredible team spirit
