Spot on, there has been so much chat about Maupay not scoring enough, what about Bis, Gross, Etc etc, we need to score more as a team. Our XG rating is very good, so we should score more all round, not all those chances fell to Mr Maupay.

I think realistically what we need is a specialist coach within the first team coaching staff. Of course, there's been times when keepers have played like they're in world cup finals and then others look less to do with inability and more just tweaking techniques. You're absolutely correct, paying £30m + for a striker is not guaranteed and contributions from around the pitch aren't nearly as enough. I think Maupay gets a lot of criticism, but lad's goal scoring record isn't that bad, it's just they often come in clusters and then periods of nothing.

Keep Lamptey fit.

Get goals, be-it from a new signing or unlocking something in Maupay's brain.

Concede less from set pieces and in last 10mins of a game.

Become more nasty on the pitch, Maupay is our only devilish player.

I was only thinking yesterday that we have gradually become more “professional” in our breaking up the flow of the opposition. I think we are now nastier and less naive than we were earlier in the season

We need a £50 million striker or else it will mean we lack ambition.

Only 7 players got 15+ in the PL - and two of those play for the same club....................forget '20 goal a season' strikers (Kane and Salah) - City's top scorer had 13.

1) More quality from the bench. West Ham could bring on Benhrama to sink us. Wolves Traore. We're bringing on Ali J and Connolly and neither have changed a game for us.

2) Cover in wing back positions. We've got dozens of players through the middle of defence and midfield. But all the time we're putting Ali J, Gross, Burn, Moder, Alzate at wing back we're never going to have the quality to stretch / get in behind /. open up teams

3) A plan to break massed ranks defending. We're not higher because of pitiful finishing against sides we've dominated. I think the issue is more to do with lack of quality than tactics, we've shelled dozens of sitters in these games. But if we can't improve the quality, through coaching or the transfer market, we'll have to try something different. I can't bear to sit through another season as frustrating as that one.

I do think in the second half of the season we have got more spiteful at times, the City game being an example :lolol: but I still think we need a bit more spite able to commit clever fouls (and get away without a card) like a Fernandinho for example.

My 3 things.

1. Replacing Bissouma’s affect on the team performance properly (probably with an existing player) is a massive challenge. We don’t have another player at his level and we can’t afford to buy a new one so we’ll have to adapt tactics a little - this could really hurt us.

2. Beating teams below us. Palace beat just one team above them this season but they were experts at beating those below them. Do we adopt the same tactics Palace use when we play the bottom 6?

3. Finishing, finishing, finishing. We need a huge clear out of our front line (Connolly, Zeqiri, Locadia, Andone, Ali-J & Tau). Whilst Welbeck, Tross & Maupay will remain, up to 3 new strikers/wingers might be what we need to finally take these big chances.

1. Get non-contributing higher end earners off the books: Locadia, Ali J, Izquierdo, Andone, Bernardo, Duffy, Propper, Ryan, Tau

Vastly reduce the massive squad numbers. Where to start on that...!? Ryan, Walton, Bernardo, Duffy, Pröpper, Tau, Connolly, Gyökeres, Mlakar, Jahanbakhsh, Izquierdo, Locadia etc. etc.

2. Release / sell non players - Duffy, Ryan. Localised, Ali j, - gets some funds and reduce wage bill

> Get rid of Ali J, locadia, izqueirdo, andone, propper, connolly (loan to champ)

Finishing, finishing, finishing. We need a huge clear out of our front line (Connolly, Zeqiri, Locadia, Andone, Ali-J & Tau).

All these people saying get rid of our front line, what are you proposing to do with them? Hire a hit man?

We've been trying to farm Ali J out for a year, no-one wanted him on the back of a goal of the season effort; why would any club want him after a worse season?

Andone has been out for 18 months with two serious injuries; what club is going to take on a striker who may never play again ... and at high PL wages?

Locadia is another player we've been trying to offload, amazingly we may be able to do this, but it's not certain

Tau looks short of PL quality but who else is going to take him on. We may be able to loan out to Belgium again but I'm sure we'd still be playing some of his wages.

Zeqiri is one for the future, he's going nowhere. Connolly we may be able to send out on loan.

Players have contracts (and high PL salaries too). They're not going to be in a hurry to move on to take a drop in earnings. Would you?

No. Murder is never the solution although it would be a lot cheaper I suspect.

Hibs/USG or PX for a player we're targeting (I'm thinking of a player like Onuachu at a club like Genk).

Hibs/USG (wages part paid)

Locadia is another player we've been trying to offload, amazingly we may be able to do this, but it's not certain.
Cincinnati hopefully.

Tau looks short of PL quality but who else is going to take him on. We may be able to loan out to Belgium again but I'm sure we'd still be playing some of his wages.

Both need a lot more game time to develop. In terms of Zeqiri, I'd have liked him to play Welbeck's role when he was injured but judging from the last few matches, Potter might not think he is ready. A Championship development loan could do the lad wonders if Potter does not fancy him.

With players like Andone, they'd just leave by mutual consent with another club getting an effective free transfer. Ali-J is clearly on big money and that could be an issue but the likes of Zeqiri, Connolly and Tau could all have similar salaries paid by a club at a lower level you would have thought.

I don't see how paying Andone off cuts our wage bill - we're paying the same amount of money.
And I don't know the wage structure of USG or Hibs but I'd be shocked if Connolly and Tau are on similar salaries to their strikers. If we loaned them out, we'd probably be paying something like 90% of their wages. So, again, I don't see what we've gained

Personally speaking, if you could manage to offload Locadia and get a loan slot for Connolly, that would be a pretty good deal. If we could get rid of Ali J, I'd be ecstatic but that's going to be unlikely

Correct me if I'm wrong and there's a big possibility of that.

But your title is "improvement" which includes holding onto Potter.

Improvement meaning, making something better - then holding onto Potter isn't making something better, it's maintaining the status quo. I would say keeping Potter is a 2nd priority (first being improving our finishing!).

The 3rd to me is to get an additional LWB, March did a fantastic job, but our performances suffered as a result of his injury. Burn is not quite good enough to play in that role, so a pacey player who's almost like Lamptey but on the left side would be a massive improvement to the overall squad.

Yeah, I see his point now. We're coming at this from slightly different angles though. My argument is that keeping Potter would be an improvement, as Potter will be a significantly improved manager by August than he was at the start of this season.
