We'd be stupid to change the defence, Greer/Uwe look to be forming a very strong, organised partnership, long may it continue. Playing 90 minutes on Saturday and again Tuesday is really not that much to ask, Greer has shown many times that he is more that capable of doing that, proving many in here wrong.

We are in great form, and just had two weeks off. We really do not need to rotate the squad now. The only position i think that should be up for grabs is right wing. Rosenior/Elvis/Murphy/March all in contention.
I agree many miss the quality Greer has he was one of Poyet's best signings IMO.

Am I right in thinking that when Aston Villa last won the league they did it using just 14 players all that season? If so, that is an incredible feat.

Correct. 7 players were ever-present.

Of course, the real correct answer is that they have never won the league since Football was only invented in 1992.

Does that mean we've never played at Wembley? :(

I guess it does, yes. It was all an illusion.

I see that during that season Villa only lost 8 games, one of which was to the mighty Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0.

A result that also no longer exists.

Yep. We have had one of the best defences in this league almost every year since we have had Greer. In which he has been first choice centr back throughtout. And with this great start so far this season, people would still consider dropping him. Amazing. Thankfully, the fans don't pick the team.

Just 14 players might have been taking it to extremes, but Howard Wilkinson's title winning Leeds, and the great Liverpool teams didn't use many more than that either. In the "days before football was invented", most clubs had a first XI which didn't change much through the course of the season except for reserves coming in to cover for injuries.
It often came as quite a shock when one of the first XI was actually dropped.

Agree with this. Amazes me so many scapegoat him purely because he's not great at jumping or particularly quick.

Good win to start off these 3.

Let's now NOT do our usual surrender to the team at the bottom, and pick up 3 more points on Tuesday

My prediction for squad rotation was way off the mark, my main excuse being, I was supposed how we managed to control the Hull game.

Wolves were impressive last season at the Amex. They attacked with pace and power and tried to move the ball around on the ground. Technically they were not the best side though and a high tempo and an early goal could be our best chance on Saturday.
