Three best forwards you ever saw

At one stage, Division 3 boasted Peter Ward, Robin Friday and Vince Hilaire - three of the most skillful players seen outside the top division: they'd be my choices. A decade before, Rodney Marsh terrorised 3rd division defences, I just missed seeing him.

Some good calls for McDougall & Boyer and Bannister & Warboys, two great striking partnerships and pleased to see Ernie Moss get a mention - a prolific scorer in lower divisions.

I, for one, am gutted that I never saw Forster play in his early career. Being a younger fan, I'm sure he would have been on my list.

A bit leftfield these, but with the caveat that they were seen live by me regularly, rather than just on telly, I'd say;
Richard Cadette at Southend (my family live there), he was scary for a while....
Tony Cottee at West Ham (I used to hang out with the wrong crowsd in Southend), an arch poacher....
and from an Albion perspective I only saw the tail end of Peter Ward, never saw Zamora so inbetween from all my Albion games I reckon Sergei Gotsmanov was the best but he only played a dozen or so times (all class every time I saw him though).

I'd have to go for Ward, Zamora and Nelson as I'm not biased in any way towards the Albion.

I am surprised none of the older fans have nominated Bobby Smith, and England forward one year and Div 4 the next!

Going for an all Albion answer here, with

1) PETER WARD.

2) Kit Napier
3) Bobby Smith (yes,the England one) or Alex Dawson.

Out of the players I actually saw play for the Albion:

Bobby Zamora, Garry Nelson and Nicky Forster.

Others deserving of a mention, but not Albion:

Brian Deane, Ricky Otto and Phil Stant.
