Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the Fans Forum, the way it has been arranged, how much use it will be?

I for one think it should have been advertised far earlier to give people a chance to sort out going etc. I don't share the paranoia about vetting the people who get tickets but I do think it should be in a more suitable venue and open to everyone.

I imagine it will be mainly dominated by people starting their questions with 'First of all can I say thanks to Dick for everything he has done and welcome back to Micky...'

I think Fans Forums are an important part of a club like ours. In years gone by they have been vital and should be a major event.

People seem to have got some sort of message to the effect that fans are not really welcome en masse at this event.

I'm sure that wasn't the intention, but it's not good public relations. I'd be very surprised if people actually get turned away because they haven't got a ticket. That would be shocking.

It'll be shit.

The club will be prepared for most of the 'gruelling' questions, the responses will be dull, scripted rubbish, that don't give a particularly interesting or enlightening answer about anything.

That, and the fact that it's last minute with this ridiculous ticket business suggests the club DON'T want people there, meaning it'll be all the usual Costa lovebus muppets and dullards asking the questions, which will be along the lines of "Are Hart & Mayo pleased to be back at the club?", "Will Kuipers get a testimonial?" and "How much will a programme cost this year?"

I know for a FACT that Liz Costa was unaware that it was a ticket only affair until yesterday. She's not happy.

I wondered whether the reason they were doing it as TICKET was so that they knew who was going and no awkward questions would be asked - i'll say it before anyone else does - i would ask Dick questions about Dean that i know he would not want to answer - just to see the reaction and i am sure there would be many fans that he wouldn't want to talk too - he proved that by his reaction on the fans phone in back in january

That's not true. I have no love in connections with the club. How do they know I am not going to ask a 'controversial' question?

But you are right, in that such questions will be batted away without being properly answered.

Can't see what the fuss is about... for at least the last three years it's been during the week prior to the season opener, so it shouldn't have come as any surprise to people... lack of advertising is frankly a bit of a whiny complaint.

I'll be there as at worst it'll be an interesting viewpoint ahead of what might be an exciting season. Enjoy it for what it is...

On the main point, I think the whole ticket thing was very misguided and sends all the wrong signals. It should be open to anyone who bothers to make it along after a hard day's work.

As to what it might be achieved at the meeting, well that's partly up to everyone who goes and what they ask.

And personally, and I'm no board lackey, I don't see what is to be gained from going on about Wilkins. What's done is done, it's over for better or worse, and we should be looking ahead. If anyone wants to lob Knight some hand-grenade questions about the future of the club that's fine with me, but to have a huge row about Wilkins with Micky sitting there wanting to get on with it just seems a bit misplaced.
