It doesn't bother me either however it is that fact that we are used to this which means it will never be eradicated as per the FAs wishes.

I suspect at some point, like Racialism, the corner will be turned and everyone will say enough is enough - not really sure when that is though
I think you're being a bit precious. There were some gay references in it but to call it a 'homophobic rant slagging us off' is well off the mark. What did you expect him to say? That we're all fantastic fans and marvelously cosmopoilitan people, and that watching your team lose 3-0 at Withdean is a life-enriching experience?

You do represent a somewhat depressing strand of modern, neutered football opinion.

But fact is we will always be gays & fudgepacking supoorters of BHA for as long as we live, no matter how many people on NSC cry about it it will NEVER go away. The sooner you all realise that the better, if you cant get over it and just accept it as some kind of humour value to opposing fans then I wish you good luck in getting through life without worrying about the tin opener not working correctly!

Doesn;t particularly bother me, but I think the gay jibes reached their zenith with \"We can see you holding hands\" - that one did genuinely make me LOL when I first heard it. I dunno though - even I;d hesitate before bothering to chant \"SHEEPSHAGGERS, LA LA LA\" at Cardiff/Swansea. Its just so tired, been done to death hasn;t it. Just like we all stifle a yawn when then \"DOES YOUR BOYFRIEND KNOW YOU;RE HERE ?\" cranks up agaaaaaain.

Bo-ring.

Gay chants will always be about as it is used as the ultimate insult by the majority of football fans. Don't worry about it. The article was amusing , end of

If the club are prepared to issue them season tickets (if they were to apply) then I am not really in a position to argue.

I liked it, but did find myself doing a  at the gay stuff. He clearly has a good enough turn of phrase without having to resort to the tired old cliches about us all being mincers, but I suppose he is just catering for his audience.

I agree with that. We are saddled with this, it's like Scousers and missing hub caps jibes - it's not going away any time soon, however unfair or outdated. They treat the whole thing with weary sarcasm, normally making the perpetrator look a right tit, we should do the same.

There will never be the consensus over homophobic chanting that there was with racial abuse, for the simple reason that only one club is directly and continually affected.

If you want precious, read the extract from Graham Le Saux's autobiography in the Game in the Times today. Looks like he took all the gay chants far too seriously. As a result everyone wound him up even more about it. Someone you wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with.

Yes there is, but I'd have to say that for large parts, all he is doing is trying to explain away his inability to keep a lid on it.

For example, Fowler pointing his arse at LeSaux always struck me as a sad, lame thing to do. Couldn't he have just responded in kind, as he did to Paul Ince (and I agree with him in that he sounds like he can dish it out but not take it back - I always though Ince sounded like a sad tosser)

But each to there own and this type of stuff will never be eradicated from football if we all find it funny.

To be fair though Beachy, a lot of it IS funny.

I would say that 99% of the gay chanting directed at us comes firmly under the heading of 'banter' rather than 'spiteful homophobic abuse'

If some of you Chutney Ferrets are so upset by the homo comments why dont you hunt him down and bum him untill MoH can fit his head up there and back out again without his ears getting a coating of crap.

Just a friendly suggestion.:)
