A ruddy CLASSIC of the genre at 1.28 in. Well done son; well, well done: goaldown retrieving of the very finest quality:

BBC Sport - Football - Peterborough 4-4 Cardiff

Before setting off with customary hatchet-faced seriousness, he still finds time to do a dainty little half SKIP whilst still in the goal.

To be a "ruddy CLASSIC", surely it has to prove utterly futille? Surely the beauty of a top drawer goaldown retrieval is only really seen when the game is utterly lost.

Here though, the GD happened early in the second half and yet Posh nicked a point with a last minute goal. You couldn't find a LESS futile goaldown retrieval if you tried.

Oh it looks like a fine, fine example of the genre has just been served up by the Ivorian scorer in the Cote d'Ivoire v North Korea game. Who wouldn't run back like the wind when you only have another seven to get? Chapeau Msr.

This is similar to my all time favourite thing that ALL defenders do: Make a monstrous tackle where the ball goes out of play and then jog backwards pointing to non-relevant defensive positions.

Sent by the power of Gus' tactical genius

And another favourite is goalkeepers who pull off spectacular saves from shots outside the box and immediately leap up and scream at their defenders for allowing them the opportunity to shamlessly show off.

Gob - Stopper?

...as mentioned earlier in the thread.

I tell ye, "gob-stopper" and "goaldown retriever". Remember where you heard those terms first. One day they're going to be HUGE.
