Isn’t it rather disconcerting this speculation about RDZ’s replacement is even going on? There’s absolutely no evidence yet that RDZ has announced he is leaving at the end of the season - in fact, his pressers, when pushed, have given nothing other than his feelings about the current performances, matches, squad and nothing about next season other than he has ambition for the Club and it depends on whether TB and PB share the same ambition in the same timescale (vis a vis investment) - presumably that talk will be going in the coming weeks:

What is clear, is that fan support (or lack of it) can seriously influence a Club or Coach’s decision about his future- there’s been months of anti-RDZ threads on NSC and now we are into speculating on who has replaced him - if NSCers want him gone, I would say this is going the right way about it imo because all this chatter feeds into social media and mainstream media as “Brighton fans say” …

He's a good manger, with similar level experience, and used to a similar model (data driven recruitment / having his players developed then sold / having to bring through younger players). If you can prove the above is even true, the last bit that your argument is actually reduced to, then they will be in breach of profit and sustainability.

One of the biggest whinges in the football media this season has been Martin Samuels, schilling for the Saudis, saying that Newcastle should be allowed to spend what they want, because they have the money available. But that's not how P&S works. A team with a ground a third our size, who are even less popular than us on telly, spending more than us are breaking the rules.

"Can" is simply wrong.

They're breaching P&S rules, maybe not this season but certainly next, because they're a teeny, tiny team with no fans and no real income. Newcastle CANNOT spend the Saudi dollars they have with their huge ground, regular TV games and international profile.

Forest spent more on transfers than us. That went well.

They haven't actually spent £100m more on their squad than us over the last few years. Since their promotion they've spent approx £180m on players, in that same time we've spent £140m . However they've recouped about £1m in player sales, where as we've had over £285m back into the club in player sales alone. So their net spend may be over £100m more than us, but their current level of spending is not sustainable in the long run.

As someone else said if Newcastle can't spend the Saudi money with their stadium, fan numbers, being more desirable for TV games etc, then Bournemouth with a stadium that is small by even League one standards have no chance of sustaining this current spending level without breaking the profit and sustainability rules. It doesn't matter how rich the owners are they simply cannot generate the income levels required.

We have no means of judging what the other 25-30,000 odd Brighton fans feel about RDZ that aren’t NSCers nor do the Club or MSM - It‘s online fanzones and social media that journalists look to read the room. The anti-RDZ debate on NSChas been largely dominated by a minority of very vocal posters starting endless threads criticising him or flat out calling for him to go, the silent majority have been just that. All I know is of the 500 fans or so who voted on @Bozza ‘s ‘Are you falling out of Love?’ thread, the majority voted that they are still behind RDZ but that has not been reflected in discussions.

Having said that, there has been a broader discussion in the past week where the broader sentiment seems to be to give RDZ a chance to turn it round with a replenished and fit squad ( if TB/PB agree). Oddly? that has coincided with a few of those same minority RDZ OUT posters upping the temperature and now assuming he’s left and making up stories of who he has been replaced with.

Of course the guesswork could be right but where is the evidence? However, if the silent majority still want to see RDZ here next season maybe now is the time to start making some noise..
