Who needs opera singers to sing the national anthem?

Love Pearce and Adams singing the national anthem, that is quality.

That first video is great!

Brought a lump to my throat seeing that, and a sense of pride.

I'd love to say that the pre-match atmosphere for the first game at Falmer will be similar... we could definitely sing "Football's Coming Home"... who's up for re-writing the rest of the lyrics for Brighton?!

Every one seems to know the score
They've seen it all before
They just know
That brighton's gonna
blow it away gonna throw it away
but i remember
3 cups at Withdean
Russells head still gleaming [Edited. was Gus Poyets still dreaming]
12 odd years have been
It never stopped us dreaming!

And God saving the [British] Queen - one of the world's most tedious dirges when compared with some quite superb national anthems - has precisely what to do with the ENGLAND football team?

It will get worse: in a few years, people will be obliged to ask God to save the King!

Musically, the French, US, Russian - and Welsh anthems are sooo much better than ours.

Compared with GSTQ, Land of Hope and Glory works much better as an atmospheric, English song for a crowd to belt out. Forget the words, it's streets ahead as a truly powerful, emotion-stirring piece of music.

Horrible idea. Much as I enjoyed the video, our club doesn't need some second hand song. For one thing, not all Albion fans support England.

We just need a bit of passion behind Sussex by the sea - we already have a song.

 so that song that took me SEVERAL seconds to think up doesn't appeal?

I agree 100% with this. It is time for the ENGLISH football team to have an ENGLISH national anthem.

As an atheist republican God Save is a complete no no. I nearly ended up in a fight on my last visit to Wembley when some skinhead prick took exception to me not singing the anthem. What can you do though when you don't believe in God and if such an entity did exist you would not be to bothered if they saved the monarch of your choice?

Land of Hope and Glory or Jerusalem would be preferable in my opinion. Although again they are both quite religious, I suspect that references to God are inevitable in any anthem.

That's what it's all about. Such a good video. What's the 'you'll never walk alone all about, though? Wouldn't catch me singing that!:wrong:

As an irishman I'm feeling myself getting reluctantly drawn into this World Cup. I just want to see England spank France in the 1/4 let it be so?
