Spot on. The other thing that seems to be constantly missed is that both Duffy and Dunk are slow. That's fine when you defend deep as we did under CH, but not when you defend higher up the pitch, as we do under Potter. Webster has the pace in order to do this.
That said, if Duffy's fit, I'd start him instead of Webster. They're a physical side, and it'll suit Duffy more, and Webster can have some time off to work on eradicating certain mistakes.

Will this lack of pace not be offset by including Lamptey at right back or RWB as he is apparently very quick.

I hope that we do not revert to the back 3 you suggest as I think that Bernardo is a vast improvement on Burn even if played as a 3rd CB with March as LWB and Lamptey as RWB. I would sooner the 3 be Duffy Dunk and Bernardo.

Me too. Bernardo is better than Burn in most respects.

If Duffy's lack of pace or ball playing is a problem, and Websters defensive errors another...... BDB could be the best of both worlds?

He is a natural Centre half playing as a LB. He can pass, defend and has aerial presence...When he gets fit, he could play with Dunk in the middle and leave Bernardo on the left side, who is a natural LB whose playing well.

That is an option but for me he doesn't have the aerial presence to win the ball that you expect from a man 6ft 6in tall but he is better at defending than Webster. I wonder if Clark will step up on his return from Derby.

Just smacks of the club (not for the first time in the past couple of seasons, doubtless on orders from on high) trying to get SOME sort of return on signings that only give us a weaker starting line-up than we had before. Recruitment department given WAY too many PL millions with WAY too little idea what to do with it. Remain amazed that recruitment heads haven't rolled long before now. Unless of course they in turn have been forced to use TB's firm's algorithms...

I thought yesterday a couple of Webster's mistakes highlighted what is being asked of him. He was stepping out of defense to press the ball and try to nick back possession - it is a risky strategy, but tactically it looks like Dunk is being told not to take that kind of risk, so Webster ends up looking like he's making more mistakes because of this trying to proactively win/press the ball high up and away from our goal. It's a difficult one as I don't see Duffy being able to do that, he is a defender that likes to defend either in a challenge or moving back toward his own goal until an opportune moment to tackle can present itself. It's tough on Webster I feel as he's being asked to press high and win the ball, and when he doesn't it looks like an outright mistake on his part.

Exactly. This sort of tactic works far better if we play a back three as, in theory, it means that there are always two other central defenders to ‘mop up’ if the initial press doesn’t work. In a back four when there’s only one additional central defender it leaves us horrible exposed if it doesn’t work.

Any other club and you'd think Winstanley wouldve long since been given his marching orders. Too many duds and fails. Could well be that Bloom doesn't as Winstanleys team are using Blooms moneyball value algorithms to select on stats... (Which if true need serious tweaking as it ain't working well)

Whilst I think March or Bernardo could fill the LWB roles well, I just don’t think Duffy suits a back three. If we persist with a back four I’d pick him over Webster every day of the week but in a back three, Webster and Burn are, in my opinion, the more astute choices to partner Dunk.

All todays :bounce:ing just highlights one thing.

The same tired trolls spewing out the same tired bollox.

Week after week.
Month after month.
Year after year.

WHY?

To be fair, many players take a whole season in the top flight to really make that step up. Webster for the first time (IMHO), looked the real deal!

Well done Adam, I hope you push on and become a firm fans favourite...

Got this Sussex boy pencilled in as Captain if/when Dunk leaves.

Fact 1: Best goal to game ration in a season, 19/20.
Fact 2: 25 career appearances as right back.
Fact 3: Looks like Pontus Jansson.

Have to agree. I can see us playing 3 CB’s next season and Dunk, Webster & White could be awesome!

Webster and White play in the same position.
As does the latest rumour from German.

It seems that it's not just centre backs the club find truly irresistible but right sided centre backs are pure catnip to the freaks in recruitment.
